Including 12 Imams in Khatam

Question:

I’m Shia Muslim. I took bayah for Naqshbandi Tariqah. Is it okay to say “Aimatul Haadeenal Mahdi’een” instead of saying “Aimatul Mujtahideen” in Ihda and Sayyidu Salawat. This is done to include the Blessing of the 12 imams and not to put down the 4 Imams

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

(i) The family of the Prophet including the 12 imams are already included when we say wa-`ala Ali Muhammad.

(ii) “al-A’immatul mujtahideen al-madeen” also includes the twelve Imams of Ahl al-Bayt

(iii) Bayaa with Mawlana Shaykh Hisham means bayaa with al-Mahdi.

(iv) Progress in Tariqa is through striving to practice what we receive from our masters, with complete assent and strong faith, not changing it.
