Names of Allah (swt)

Question:

Salams to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and Mawlana Shaykh Hisham!

Can one recite Names of Allah(swt) for purposes such as embracing those Qualities or help others and oneself in different situations? If so how many times (meaning what is the significance of numbers, e.g. 70 times vs. 100 times vs. 70,000 times)?

I know it could be a long answer, but, could you please provide your perspective on the deeper meanings of the Names. I heard a learned brother from Shadhiliya Order say that each Name carries with it Light which, if recited continuously can be manifested and alter any situation.

I do not always do salah, much less on time, nor do awrad always… However, I try to recite Allah’s Names and istighfar as much as I can, despite little knowledge or understanding…

Thank you in advance. Salams

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

In sha Allah by striving to pray on time and regularly with the humbleness you have shown, you will acquire a deeper understanding of the Names rather than by formal repetition or study of them. Salat is the meeting with Allah Most High and our Wazifa ensures the protection of its Adab and spiritual treasures, particularly the Fajr wazifa. It is
important to understand that protection and progress are assured through following the dhikr given to us by our Shaykh and through his permission, not from other sources.
