Permission to Pray on Behalf of Others

Question:

AsSalamuAlaykum Shaykh, I am in need of your advice .
I am deeply in love with a non-Muslim woman, but she does not love me back, but I still care about her a lot because she is a very nice person and I cannot stop thinking about her, no matter how hard I try. I also think that I might be annoying her with my feelings . Is it possible for me to ask for forgiveness and repent for her sins on her behalf ? Can I pray the five daily prayers on her behalf ? (meaning that I have to pray each one of the five daily prayers twice.)

Answer:

Wa`alaykumussalam,
Allah says in Surah al-Baqarah, 2:221, “Do not marry women who associate partners with God until they believe. A believing bondwoman is better than a woman who associates partners with God, however pleasing she may appear to you.”

You may pray that she accepts Islam, that is better. Until that happens, do not go to the extreme. After that, if you both wish you may marry.
