Unconcious Hostility

Question:

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim
Salamalaykum staff,

Since a few months ago Ive had bad reactions from people nearly every time I go out. I’m sure it is related to me doing my zikr/practices. I don’t fully understand though. I read Rene Guenon saying it isn’t ‘trials’ from the Sheikh, apparently that is something different(?), but ‘unconcious hostility’. Does this mean people somehow pick up on something when you are in tariqa and doing zikr? Is this the same thing as shaytan (since he’s on psychic plane not spiritual?) And this hostility (that I’m getting so much of lately), how is it linked to Allah ta’ala or Maulana may Allah bless him? Eg, Allah lets it happen (?) Do we view it as from Him? Or best to view as from shaytan? And what is the ultimate benefit of it please? If I knew that, i might be able to handle it better! thanks

Answer:

Wa`alaikumussalam,

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim has advised that Grandshaykh ‘Abdullah said that when a believer treads a path to do good deeds and seeks the pleasure of Allah, up to 70 devils will come to distract him. Be conscious of what YOU are doing for Allah Almighty, keep the company of pious ones and ignore the insinuations of detractors.
