Question:
In my mind, i have considered Hazrat Syedna Nizamuddin Aulia (R.A.) as my Pir, even though he is not alive. I always felt a strong spiritual association with him. Whenever I visited his Shrine. Is this correct and how can I spiritually connect with my Pir?

Yes definitely that is a reality where your spirituality is connect to Sayyidina Nizamuddin al-Awliya. After all, awliyaullah are alive in their graves, in a barzakh life we do not perceive or understand. That is why awliyaullah are known as sultans, for they possess divinely-gifted power that lasts beyond this life.
However, in order to move on the spiritual path, it is essential to have baya` to a living shaykh.
You will continue to hold a connection to your Uwaisi murshid, even after taking baya`, but in order to get the benefit of that Uwaisi connection you need a living murshid who can inform you what your Uwaisi murshid is sending as blessings for you.
