Question:
Assalamu alaykum wR wB,
Dear Mawlana Shaykh Hisham,
While many of your male mureeds understand the rewards of wearing sunnah clothing, some of us feel wary in certain public places of displaying any outward indication that we are Muslim. For instance, at airports, or at our workplaces, etc. The negativity felt by non-Muslims towards Muslims in America is at an all-time high, and while it is ignorant and unjustified, it is nevertheless a reality. For myself personally, I don’t even like to wear a kufi when at an airport, since it might trigger more hassle at the security checkpoints than otherwise might happen. I even tell my wife not to wear a scarf when going through airport security. Is my stance on this point valid, or should I just be more courageous and trust that Allah will protect me from this negativity? Thanks for your answer, may Allah Bless you.
Answer:
wa `alakum salam,
Alhamdulillah, Shaykh Hisham has already addressed your questions in a previous post.
