The person whom one is going to marry is pre decided by fate or we have the ability to choose ?

Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
We have ability to choose what Allah (S) has predestined for us. We don’t know what Almighty predestined for us until we experience it. Each one of us has a free will to pursue and select what is good for him, but in the end, nothing will happen but that which Allah (S) predetermined.
