Question:
Dear Shaykh,
I have problem with my ex who is now living inside zawiyah in Jakarta. My questions are:
1. The leader of the zawiyah, does he has to interfere with one’s family problem?
2. Does he has to answer on behalf of my ex regarding everything?
Answer:
It is not clear what the situation is so I can only answer in general terms that the leader of the zawiyah can only interfere if there is inappropriate behavior or danger, otherwise he should not interfere in others’ business. He should give tawsiyah whenever beneficial and show upright behavior. He may arbitrate between two parties who have a disagreement and he may help them communicate if he is reliable and if they both agree to it.
