Question:
A’udhu Bil-Lahi min ash-Shaytani-r-Rajeem!
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Rahim!
As-Salamu alaykum wa Rahmatu l-lahi ta’ala wa Barakatuh Shaykh.
One of Mawlana (q)’s murids here asked me a question and can Shaykh please guide me on this if it is correct to ask. The question he asked was if Almighty Allah has emotions? Are we also allowed or permitted to ask a question like this?
Please forgive me ya Shaykh for my bad adab.
Shukran
Answer:
`Alaykum Salam,
We don’t use our own terms but rather those of Allah and the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) such as rahma, rida, mahabba, ghadab etc. Furthermore, even so they do not refer to emotions as they would for creatures, but rather to the Divine will of acceptance or rejection, reward or punishment of the one toward whom they are directed. All this is described at length in the `Aqida series books published at ISCA.
