Question:
Assalamualaikum
I am [private]. Follower of Prophet Muhammad (S).
Also Murid of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil Al-Haqqani And Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani.
I need some help. I was talking with some people in a group. For some reason I informed them Our Prophet Muhammad (S) and Oli awlia they are passed away the body from earth but they are not dead, they are alive. After that they attacked me – and asking show the prove from Quran. Where you find this what’s the verse in which Sura.
In that case I am not that knowledgeable person. That I learned all from Mawlana and our Daily zikir.
I am really asking please give me the reference about Our Prophet Muhammad (S) and Oli Awlia are not dead- so I can give them.
I am from Dallas.
Thanks

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem,
Allahumma salli `ala Muhammad,
wa `alaykum salam,
One only needs to read Ibn Qayyim al-Jawzi’s Kitab ar-Ruh, the first three chapters (to start with) ; “Does the Dead know Those Who Visit Them and Relays Salams?” with a section on “The Proof that the Dead Hear”, “Do the Souls of the Dead Meet, Visit, and Reminisce Amongst Themselves”, and “Do the Souls of the Living and the Dead Meet”.
You can deduce from the title of these chapters (and the ones that follow them), that therein are ample proofs for the ignorant. It would now suffice to mention a little of what’sĀ found therein:
The first chapter mentioned from Ibn `Abd al-Barr that it’s established that the Prophet (s) said, ” There’s no Muslim who passes the grave of his brother who he knows while he was in the world that when he gives him salams except that Allah returns his soul so he can return the salams.”
So what about awliyaullah?
Both Muslim and Bukhari mentioned the Prophet (s) would call out to the unbelievers who were killed in Badr, if they had found the punishment of what Allah and himself (s) promised. I don’t believe that the Prophet (s) was talking to dust.
The Prophet (s) said, ” The dead hears the footsteps of walkers over his grave and when they leave”.
Ibn Qayyim said, “The Prophet commanded his nation to give salams to the people of the graves by saying, “Peace be upon you O Abode of Believers”. Ibn Qayyim explained, “This manner is for conversation with someone who hears and thinks. If this was not so, then this conversation would be on the same level as a conversation with something that doesn’t exist or something inanimate. The Salaf are in agreement on this and there are multitudes of traditions that the dead know those who visit them and give them glad tidings.”
This is just the introduction of chapter 1. So you can deduce from the title of the other chapters which direction this subject is going regarding the conversation with your friends. So the questions to your friends could read, “what is your definition of death” or “the hadiths cited indicate that the the souls of the Believers and the unbelievers hear, so what about the awliyaullah?”
Perhaps this book could clear up their understanding, as related from the traditions, on the definition of death. Then they could talk about awliyaullah.
