Parents disapproving of our marriage – out of caste

Question:

Salam, I met a brother when I was 13 and he was also young. When I was 16 I told my parents that we would like to be married but they refused on the basis of a difference in our caste from Pakistan. We did Nikah without parental’ knowledge so we wouldn’t fall into sin. However, I am now 19 and my parents will not let me study at university because I wish to be married to him. They are not speaking to me and tell me I cannot marry him because I chose him without their knowledge. They refuse to speak with him or his family. He is a religious person and is also going to Cyprus with intention of Bay’ah from Shaykh Nazim next month.

Please give us some advice on what to do. Please do dua for us and our family.

JazakAllah

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Insha-Allah I will make du`a for you. But you must know that if you are young you need a wakil. I hope everything will work out well.
