Is it allowed for men to color their hair and beard black?
Answer:
Coloring the hair of the head and the beard is allowed and preferred, as long as it is done with any color other than black. Black, on the other hand, is totally forbidden. The proof is that when they brought the father of Abu Bakr (ra), Abi Qahafa, to the Prophet (s), on the day of the conquest of Makkah, his head and beard were white. The Prophet (s) said, “change the color of his beard and head, but avoid black.”
