Question:
Assalamu alaykum,
Required to make a quick decision regarding sustenance: we are in rather tight financial situation, government requires me to immediately increase income for my wife’s visa to be extended. Inshallah there’s a transport company that I could work for, but they would deal with all sorts of goods – so we cannot really exclude that they also transport alcohol or other haram things. Meaning, every day I would have to deal with goods, perhaps I will – or – I will not know whether it is something haram or not. Does MSN/MSH give permission for this work or should we stay away from it and keep looking? In both cases we humbly request Mawlana’s baraka and rizq and protection.

Answer:
`Alaykum as-Salam,
Mawlana will pray for Allah Most High to give you baraka and rizq and protection always. The presumption is that the company transports mostly halal things; and here the status of the most dictates that of the whole, therefore you have permission, on the basis of the intention that your income from that work be from that halal majority and that you wash your hands (bara’a) from the rest. But if you feel scruples about it then you should follow your heart and keep looking for better.
