Illegitimate child

Question:

Assalamualaikkuum Shaykh Hisham and Hajjah Nazihe and all those who are behind eshaykh.com. May Allah grant his endless blessings to all of you for providing us this help. We are endlessly grateful and eternally indebted to all of you for helping us and saving us.

I am a huge sinner. My husband and I had a child through illegitimate ways (zina). We got married when I was 7 months pregnant and now, my daughter is almost 2 years old. We are full of regret and shame for what we have done. Now all we want is to do the right thing, be on the right path. It is confusing now for us because we have many people telling us how to raise her.

1. We were told once to nikah again. Some people say our marriage is not accepted because I was pregnant during the nikah.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

You were pregnant during nikah with the man you made nikah with. So Allah is as-Sattar and al-Ghafoor and ar-Raheem. Allah swt will forgive those who repented and Allah said in Holy Quran to the Prophet to tell people, “la taqnatu min rahmatillah, inna Allah yaghfir adh-dunuba jami`an“. He will forgive ALL sins. And you did a mistake and a sin, but you corrected it and that is what most scholars of today go with what I am telling you; that you did nikah with the same man who made you pregnant and that is it. Insha-Allah the child will be happy, you will be happy and your husband will be happy. Don’t listen to people.
