Is crab haram or makruh?

Question:

Salamu aleikum Mawlana,

Is Crab haram or makruh? Can we have, if possible, the list of animals that are makruh?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Different schools of thought rule differently. Shafi`i school of thought says it is OK, but Hanifi school of thought  says it is not OK. There are many varied opinions on that issue.
