In Siyar A’alaam an-Nubulaa, it is mentioned in the beginning of each account whom they relate from and who relates from them.
Is this referring to knowledge in general or hadith in particular? Wassalaam,

Both, and other sciences also since it sometimes refers to
tafsir, or canonical readings, or grammar and language, or fiqh, etc/
