Hanafi masbuq prays different prayer in order to avoid confusion

Question:

Can a hanafi masbuq join a prayer of a non-hanafi (even though the latter might pray a different prayer) to avoid confusion or offense because he thinks I want to avoid him? Could one switch to the Shafii opinion or is there a second opinion?

Answer:

The Hanafi masbuq can only join an imam praying the same prayer.

A non-Shafii may pray according to the Shafii madhhab provided he has mastered the basic fiqh of purity and prayer therein.
