Prayer Request: Jinn?

Prayer Request:

As Salaamu Alaykum.
I am newly married and living in house with my wife. When my wife is alone at home during the day, she feels like something is watching her, and she hears strange, loud sounds in the house. She even gets a bad smell in our bedroom. She feels that there may be a Jinn in the house. I dont know about these things. It does not happen when I am home (so far, anyway). She is very scared and does not want to be home alone.

I am asking advice, how can I know what’s happening, how can I make her feel safe, and if there is a Jinn in our home, what do I do? We perform our Salaah, I regularly perform my daily zikr every morning. We are both Naqshbandi-Haqqani Mureeds

Shukran, Ma as salaam

Response:

Alaykum Salam,
Recite Surat Ya Seen every morning. If your wife has never lived alone in her life, she may also feel very lonely in your absence.

Pregnancy/ Avoid Miscarraige

Question:

Aslamualaykum Wr Wb,

I hope Maulana Shaykh Nazim & Shaykh Hisham are in the best of health along with their families. My name is [private] and my wife [private]. (please keep names private). Following advice from e-shaykh I made the intention that once my wife is pregnant we shall slaughter 3 goats and distribute under the name mentioned. Once pregnant I arranged for this but after few days my wife miscarried. This is now the second time this has happened and on both occasions miscarried within the first 6 weeks. Can you please advise what we can do to help us in this situation and also make dua for us in order for any obstacles to be cleared from our path that are preventing us from having children.

Jazakhallah.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,
Once pregnant let her not work. Continue with advice given here:

All the men I like prefer others

Question:

ASA, Whenever I meet someone I like, & he seems to like me too, I find out that he’s involved with or committed to someone else. Even when they’re not immediately with someone else, they always seem to prefer any friends I have over me. I don’t understand it: all sorts of personalities and body shapes and skin colours meet and fall in love and happily marry that I can see, but why can’t I? I’m normal in every way. Now I’m pushing 40 and will lose my chance at children as well as love if this goes on. Are marriage & kids not for me? Also how do I deal with people who patronize/pity me for being single? It’s very offensive! Jazak Allah Khairun.

Answer:

Salam alaykum,
Take heart and let your heart find contentment with the many blessings you do have, and let not delays in your wishes detract from your gratitude. More blessings will come your way as they do not depend on the control of people. So continue asking and inshaAllah you will find a more blessed match than you imagined. You can also use Mawlana’s matrimonial service which we recommended on this website before.

Questions Mortgage and Income

Question:

Assalam Shaykh,
May this mail find you in the best of health and Emaan InshaAllah.

Two Questions:
1. Is it permissable in Islam for one to work for a secular bank (where riba is common) as an accountant?
2. If one has a riba based mortgage, what should one do, change to a Islamic Mortgage even if they are not totally 100 Shariah compliant? Or sell the house and live on rental property until one has cash to buy?

Jzk

Answer:

Alaykum as-Salam,
1. No, because their purpose is riba-based profit and an accountant aids that haram purpose and shares in its responsibility.
2. See this post.

Dream: Shaykh Hamza Yusuf straightening my back

Dream:

Assalamualaikum,
I got this dream a few days ago, please let me know if this is of any significance.
Quite a few things happened in the dream which I cannot recall correctly, please forgive me. Distinct part was-there was some sort of panel discussion with Sh. Hamza Yusuf and Imam Zaid Shakir.I was sitting in the audience. My back was hunched forward considerably deep. Then Sh. Hamza comes towards me and from behind me, holds me by the sides of my arm, straightens my back and holds it in that position for a while.I feel a sort of cooling/relaxing sensation while he’s holding it in that position. It seems my torso also illuminated. Then somehow later in the middle of it, something happens and he’s not holding it like that anymore. He tells me it was the shaytan doing something and I remember seeing my torso also lost the illumination.
JazakAllah Khair.

Interpretation:

`Alaykum Salam,
With full respect for all, our recommendation is to take bayaa online with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani and observe the “beginner’s practices” described at naqshbandi.org and may Allah Most High grant you success, light and protection here and hereafter.

Sufism versus other Mysticisms

Question:

Asalamualaykum,
I was hoping you could help me resolve some of the confusion that I’ve been facing lately. I’ve only begun to learn more about Sufism and Tasawwuf, and I’ve found that it bares much similarity and common ground (such as having a mantra and practicing meditation, adopting concepts like the ego or inner-self, character refinement, etc,) to the spiritual paths of Buddhism, Taoism, as well as other mysticisms. How is it such that people who pursue such spiritual paths other than that of Sufism are able to attain (or at least claim to) degrees of spiritual enlightenment? Please excuse me for my lack of understanding in this regard. I really want to clear these misconceptions, and embark on a spiritual journey with confidence inshAllah. If you could please get back to me at your earliest convenience, I would greatly appreciate it. JazakAllah for all your help.

Answer:

Alaykum as-Salam,
Each gazer believes their horizon is the ultimate one and their sincerity carries them to appreciable heights and spiritual gains over their lower selves. However, Allah Most High said: “And above every knower there is a higher knower.”

Dream: A Black Shadow

Dream:

Assalamoualaikoum,
Several times I have dream of a black shadow in human form at my first residence. And in my dream itself, I started running after the black shadow whilst reading Qur’anic verses. Whilst running behind the shadow, it manages to escape by going away from my residence. Grateful if you could advise on the implication.

Interpretation:

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:

Wa `alaykumu s-salāmu wa rahmatu l-lāhi wa barakātuh,
It shows that Holy Qur’an’s oceans of lights are an endless source of protection and mercy that prevented evil beings and bad energy to stay in your house. This dream is also a way to encourage you to read daily the Holy Qur’an to throw away the love of dunya from your heart. And Allah knows best.
