Dream: My Father, Sheet

Dream:

I saw my father (late) in my dream. we were sleeping on the roof in different beds in the open. I was looking at him and he looked dead to me but then he gets up and spread his sheet on me while i am asleep to save me from cold, with this i woke up from my dream. I don’t remember the timing of the dream but i dreamed on Wednesday.

Interpretation:

The roof signifies a person of nobility, sheet is honor and the dream shows that although helpless or heedless (asleep) you are under a fatherly protection, which we believe to be Sultan al-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, Allah sanctify his soul, who carries his murids even if they are unaware of it.

The more everyone follows the Sunna, the more heavenly protection and support you will get. Let respective parents communicate and trust in Allah Most High. Recite Hasbiya Allah wa ni`ma al-Wakil x100 daily.

Dream: Fungus on my finger

Dream:

Assalamualaykum,
My finger was cut and not bleeding. There was a flap of skin which I lifted and saw a bone and some skin/muscle on the bone but I could see through and there were spots of greenish blue fungus on the transparent skin.
Thank you.

Interpretation:

Wa alaikum Salaam,
It means to focus on self-purification instead of others.

Sadaqah or Superstition?

Question:

assalamualaikum,

I wish to know if a way of giving sadaqah that i have witnessed is right and not a cultural ritual thing that has been going on in Pakistan for years (also it is not committing Shirk).

A Muslim Pakistani women bought chicken from a shop and then her and her husband went to a open field and circled the chicken around his head a number of times and threw it into the fields, she said this is sadaqah and is to lift the burden off her husbands shoulders??

is this right as i can’t find anywhere info on our Prophet pbuh doing this.

Inshallah you reply soon.

Wa Sallam

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
Many ethnic groups have retained elements of pre-Islamic cultural practices. This one seems to be falling under this category and has nothing to do with Islam.

Dream: Holy Kaba on Hajj

Dream:

Asalamalaikum to all eshaykh staff thanks for this website. My husband had a dream he went to make hajj and he tried but he couldn’t see the Kaaba. What does this mean?

Interpretation:

Alaykum as-Salam,
The dream points to the nearness of the end of times at which time one of the signs is the disappearance of the Magnificent Kaaba–may Allah protect us here and hereafter.

A Bat in my house

Question:

Salamun alaykum warrahmatullaahi wabarakatuh.

On Tuesday, the 13th of December 2011, I was surprised by a bat that was in my house. The incident occurred in the daytime and also when the power went off. Bats flew briefly in the living room, then came out after I opened the front door.

So far, there has never been anything like it in my house. What is the purpose or meaning of the event for me and my family, please explain. Hopefully it brings goodness for me and my family.

Warm regards from Idonesia to all here, especially to Mawlana Shaykh Hisyam. I thank you so much for being with me all this time. Please pray for my wife and my family.

Regards
servants

Answer:

Alaykum as-Salam,
Bats protect us from harmful insects and they may sometimes invade human space looking for that food. In a dream, a bat symbolizes money or a blessed person or child.

Ahadith on repelling poverty

Question:

As-salamu ‘alaykum,

I’ve been presented some ahadith for repelling poverty, could you clarify if these are from reliable sources.

1. Imam Tabarani has quoted in his Al-Mu’jamul Ausat from Abu Hurairah that Rasulullah said, “Whoever is granted a bounty by Allah I should express excessive gratitude for it. The one who has excessive sins should repent abundantly. Whoever is suffering from a lack of sustenance should recite, profusely: la hawla wa la quwatta illa billah al-ali al-azim.”

2. Ali states that Nabi said, “Whoever will recite a hundred times, la ilaha illallah al-haqq al-mubeen, it will become a means of safety from poverty for him and a solace from the solitude of the grave.” (Musnad al-Firdaus)

3. Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud says that Nabi said, “Whoever recites Surah Ikhlas when entering the house, this surah will distance poverty from the inhabitants of that house and the neighbours.” (Tabrani)

Answer:

`Alaykum as-Salam,

1. A very faulty translation of a narration which is found only in al-Khatib al-Baghdadi’s Tarikh Baghdad and Ibn al-Jawzi’s `Ilal and is considered forged.

2. “Whoever recites a hundred times every day la ilaha illallah al-Haqq al-Mubeen, it will be a means of safety from poverty for him, he will attract wealth through it, it will be a solace from the desolation of the grave for him, and he will be knocking at the gate of Paradise.”

A “very weak-chained” hadith narrated by Abu Nu`aym in the Hilya and Sifat al-Janna; al-Malini in al-Arba`in `an al-Sufiyya; al-Khatib in Tarikh Baghdad, al-Ruwat `an Malik, and al-Rihla fi Talab al-Hadith; Ibn `Asakir in his Mu`jam al-Shuyukh; al-Silafi in al-Tuyuriyyat; Ibn al-Jawzi in the `Ilal; and al-Rafi`i in Tarikh Qazwin; all through al-Fadl b. Ghanim, a weak narrator who is alone in the world to claim to have heard this from Imam Malik, hence Ibn `Abd al-Barr in al-Tamhid said this is inauthentic from Malik.

3. Narrated from Jarir b. `Abd Allah (not Ibn Mas`ud) by al-Tabarani in al-Kabir with a very weak chain because of Marwan b. Salim al-Ghifar who is discarded.

Among the more authentic prescriptions against poverty:

(i) the du`a of taking to bed ending with the words, “Repay our debts and grant us sufficiency against poverty” (in Muslim and the Sunan);
(ii) piety to parents and supplication for them;
(iii) refraining from cursing the wind;
(iv) keeping family ties;
(vi) not wasting food;
(vii) reading Surat al-Waqi`a every night;
viii) saying subhan Allah wa-bi-hamdihi subhan Allah al-`azim, astaghfirullah 100 times daily.

It is also said that one who recites Surat al-Fil twenty-one times after the zuhr prayer will receive wealth from the Invisible.

The Hanafis deem the reading of Mukhtasar al-Quduri (an eminent book of fiqh) a protection against poverty as mentioned in Kashf al-Zunun and by Ahmad Khayri in his biography of Imam al-Kawthari in the introduction to the 1994 edition of the Maqalat.

The Maliki Shaykh Ahmad Zarruq recommends “never to dry one’s wet hands on one’s own clothes.”

And Allah knows best.

Qunut Dua Behind Hanafi Imam

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum dear scholars of eshayk

İ have a question regarding the qunut prayer in fajr for a Shafi follower when he is praying behind an Hanafi imam. After the second rakat when you come from the ruku and you are supposed the read the qunut dua but the Hanafi imam goes down to prostration. Are we allowed to read the qunut dua or are we to follow the imam.

JazakAllahu ahsan jaza

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
You are not allowed in this case to read qunoot as you are supposed to follow the imam based on this hadeeth:
“The imam has only be appointed to be followed, so do not differ from him.”
