Upper lip hair

Question:

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

May Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon the Holy Prophet (salallahu ‘alayhi wasalam), his family and companions.

Assalamualaikum, Maulana Shaykh Nazim, Maulana Shaykh Hisham and all E-shaykh staffs. This is my first time writing on E-shaykh, please forgive me if I lacked adab in my writing. I chanced upon a question on Eshaykh regarding this and the advice was to recite Al-Fatihah 7x on oil then apply and I would like to use this method because I tried threading/waxing but it was only temporal. However I am afraid I won’t remove the oily residue on my face properly and water may not be able to pass through during ablution. Is there a method to remove it completely?

Jazakallah khayran kathiran.

Wassalam

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

It is enough to rub your face when applying the water 3x.

Precision about wearing turban

Question:

Salam aleykoum,

I hope I find you all in good health. Recently reading one answer of Mawlana Sheikh Hisham here, I read that he recommended us not to wear turban in public in Muslim country were people usually don’t wear Sunnah. I actually live in Indonesia and would like to know if I should still wear turban while praying in masjid? No one does apart from me. I don’t have the feeling it is disturbing anybody but my wife who knows the customs here better tells me that I shouldn’t because it somehow casts me out of the community (which I don’t feel like). What should I do? Barakallahou fik and please forgive my lack of adab.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

You may wear your turban in masjid, as that is well-known everywhere as sunnah. If Naqshbandi-style taj is drawing too much attention, then wear a simple turban with flat cap. Don’t wear turban however, in everyday public places or work, where it is not a custom to do so.

I would to request Shaikh Nazim’s permission to recite the ruqya formulae at the website www.islamicexorcism.wordpress.com, all are based on Quran and hadeeth. If the eShaykh Ulema (preferably) Shaikh Hishaam can verify its authenticity and advise whether other Naqshbandi murids may recite the formulae listed on the site as there does not seem to be much available to recite against sihr. Your advices are kindly appreciated, shukran. wasalaamu alaikum wr wb.

Dream: First day Ramadan and Obama

Dream:

It’s 1st Ramadan. I’m in our old home with my cousin… and some guys. A guy said he will lead prayer at home. I wanted to go masjid but agreed on praying at home with them. It’s 3:30 afternoon. The leader wasn’t leading properly. He starts and interrupts prayer, we moved a lot so my scarf fell down. Before I could fix my scarf the prayer continued. After it was over I yelled, telling leader we didn’t pray properly as it’s first Ramadan. Told my cousin ”help me prepare iftar and then we go pray Taraweeh in masjid.” I started cleaning my room. There’s fried fish in plastic, smelled delicious almost wanted to eat but remembered I’m fasting. Iftar is ready and everyone sat on floor around dining. I was in full dress with scarf. I remember they were men I was the only girl. Obama came with a plate and felt shy. He wanted to join. I felt happy and told him to join.

About dream interpretations

Question:

salam shaykh

Is it true that a dream comes true only when it is be interpreted by a shaykh or mu’abbir? I read ones that birds carry the dream with their feet and when it is interpreted by shaykh the bird let it off.

2) Is it true that the dreamer may not interpret his dream more then once? Some people ask one shaykh to interpreted his dream and he goes again to another shaykh to interpret the same dream, so compare.

3) Can we normal people with no level of wisdom or `ilm tafsir ahlam check online websites of Nablusi and ibn Sireen to interpret over own dreams?

Thank u shaykh for giving us this website eshayk.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

1) yes.

2) It is dangerous to one’s `itiqad in the interpreter to interpret the dream more than once.

3) Shaykh Hisham (q) has said many times, from the teachings of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and Grandshaykh `Abdullah Daghestani (q) that the power of correct dream interpretation is under the direction of the Qutb of the  spiritual ‘century’ in which you live. Each Qutb has a different tajalli, and therefore the interpretation under the tajalli that Ibn Sirin was under in his time may not apply today at all.  Thus the interpreter must be trained under the guidance of a Shaykh connected to the Qutb of his time under his own century’s tajalli. So while the general interpretation provided by such books/websites may be correct, a specific dream it may need to be interpreted under the tajalli of the dreamer’s spiritual ‘century’.
