Timeline for Sayyidina al-Mahdi (as)

Question:

Salaam Brother,

I hope that you are well.

From this hadith Sunan Abi Dawud 4285 – The Promised Deliverer (Kitab Al-Mahdi) – كتاب المهدى – Sunnah.com – Sayings and Teachings of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم)

what is the timeline for Isa ibn Maryam to come to the earth?

Narrated AbuSa’id al-Khudri:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The Mahdi will be of my stock, and will have a broad forehead a prominent nose. He will fill the earth will equity and justice as it was filled with oppression and tyranny, and he will rule for seven years.

Will there be a time lapse between Imam Mahd’s rule and the time for Isa ibn Maryam to come to the earth?

Is the timeline of the return of Isa ibn Maryam within the seven years that Imam Mahdi ruling the earth?

Or perhaps, he will come down towards the end of the reign of dajjal.

Imam Mahdi to pave the way for the return of Isa ibn Maryam?

What is the timeline for Isa ibn Maryam to come to the earth?

Syukran.

WasSalaam

Answer:

wa ‘alaykum salam,
Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani (ق) says:

So the Prophet (s) said, “How are you going to be when Sayyidina `Isa (a) descends and your imam is among you, and he will descend on minaaratun baydaa, the white minaret?”

Sayyidina al-Mahdi will call adhaan for Jumu`ah prayers and Sayyidina `Isa (a) will come down in Damascus. So Grandshaykh `AbdAllah (q) was saying, “Don’t be like Abu Lahab and Abu Jahl, who knew the Prophet (s) is the Messenger, but despite that they came against him. Even animals and mountains spoke with the Prophet (s); everything admitted and accepted he is the Prophet (s), so don’t be ignorant, don’t use your mind!”

Du`a by the name written on the olive leaves

Question:

سَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Shaykh Jibrail, eid mubarak. There is a dua in the middle of above page about a special name written on the leaves of olive tree. Please let know what is that name. Thsnk you. This is the last page of Thursday reading of Dalailal Khayrat.

Answer:

وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته

Eid mubarak to you and your family also dear Shaykh. Thank you for your note which blesses me.

As for the Divine Name written on the olive leaves, Sharnubi and Shaykh Yusuf Nabhani both referred to Shaykh Muhammad al-Mahdi al-Fasi’s major commentary on this passage, Matāli` al-Masarrāt. (Attached below.)

Al-Fasi’s gist is, “Allah knows best what these Names are because no hadith has been transmitted to that effect. But it is probable that the Name written on the olive leaves is the very one that dictates they do not fall and has that effect on them.” Nabhani added, “for they do not fall, summer and winter.”

What came to mind before looking up the above sources is that, in light of the Verse of Light, the Name might be–but Allah knows best–

رَبَّ جبرئيلَ وميكائيلَ وإسرافيلَ ومحمَّد.

It is a Name the Holy Prophet (s) would invoke in protection against the Fire at the conclusion of salat before Fajr.* His complete duaa is, اللهمَّ رَبَّ جبرئيلَ وميكائيلَ وإسرافيلَ ومحمَّد، أعوذ بك من النَّار

Hajj Gibril Haddad

*The Hafiz Ibn Hajar said the hadith to that effect is hasan.

Children of Jahiliyya

Question:

Salam alaykum Shaykhna,

How does Imam Suyuti explain this Hadith in regards to Ahl Al-Fitra? :

Abdullah, son of Imam Ahmad, recorded that Ali said, “Khadijah asked the Prophet (s) about two of her children who died during the time of Jahiliyyah, and the Messenger of Allah said; “They are both in the Fire.” When he saw sadness on her face, he said, “If you saw their dwelling place, you would hate them.” …

Answer:

Waalaykumussalam warahmatullah,

It is related:

I. from `Ali by `Abdallah b. Ahmad in his additions to Ahmad’s Musnad and

II. from Khadija herself by Abu Ya`la.

It was rated munkar (disclaimed) for the following reasons:

(i) `Abd Allah’s chain contains a complete unknown in addition to missing a link to `Ali;

(ii) the chain to Khadija — Allah be well-pleased with her — has a missing link to her;

(iii) there is no authentic hadith that states children are in hellfire;

(iv) Imam Ahmad’s answer concerning the children of the unbelievers was, “My position is what the Prophet — upon him blessings and peace — said: ‘Allah knows best what they would have been doing;'” and most importantly,

(v) a Prophetic hadith states, إِنِّي سَأَلتُ رَبِّي أَوْلَادَ الْمُشْركين فأعطانيهِم خَدَماً لأهلِ الْجنَّة “Verily I asked my nurturing Lord for the children of the polytheists so He gave them to me as servants for the people of Paradise” (narrated from Anas b. Malik by al-Hakim al-Tirmidhi, Nawadir al-Usul, Dar al-Minhaj ed. 1:793-795 nos. 380-381, hasan overall).

Zakat for youngster

Question:

If someone gifts/sets aside gold for their children who are young, do they still pay zakat for it? Or is the zakat fardh only when the child reaches puberty?

Answer:

Per the majority they do pay zakat and their guardian is responsible for paying it. In the Hanafi madhhab it is fardh only after puberty.

Zakat to Ahlul-Bayt?

Question:

Can Zakat be given to the needy and the poor of Ahl al-Bayt?

Answer:

In our time yes it is permissible to give zakat to the poor of Ahl al-Bayt because they are not receiving their rightful share of the Khumus (fifth). So they are at least entitled to zakat out of darura (necessity).
