Performing Istekhara

Question:

Some one told we can do istekhara in this manner: make 6 chits , on 3 write “Faman yaAAmal mithqala tharratin khayran yarahu” (means yes) on other 3 write “Waman yaAAmal mithqala tharratin sharran yarahu” ( means no) {ayahs of Surah Zilzal}… Perform 2 rakah nafil namaz and put one chit aside, {Do it 3 times in total thereby performing 6 rakahs and picking one chit after every two rakahs (that means we pick 3 chits). Then open the chits and see if the nmbr of ‘yes chits’ is more it means istekhara is positive, if the number  of “no chits” is more it means istekhara is negative.

IS IT A VALID WAY OF DOING ISTEKHARA AND ALSO HOW MANY TYMS CAN WE DO IT?  Should WE ACCEPT THE FIRST RESULT OR CAN WE DO IT 3 OR 7 TYMS TIL WE GET A POSITIVE RESULT

Answer:

It is OK but after 6 rakaats the 1st reply is the final reply (3 chits) and that’s it. To keep doing it until you get your own way invalidates it.You must dispose of chits properly or keep them in a proper place.
