Question:
Assalam u alayekum !
With humbleness this sinner servant of sheikh hisham wants to ask him that there is an impression being spread out by some posts of this site that yazid bin muavya was’nt a sinner. Is’nt it compulsory for those who love Prophet Salla’l la ho alaye hi wasallam to hate those who oppressed Syedna imam Hussain A.S and his companions.?How can be yazid innocent? And how can his repentance be accepted?kindly also tell what should be our feelings for Amir Muavya r.a.?
Shukran ya syyedi.
Best Regards
Answer:
`Alaykum as-Salam,
On the first issue we repeat and confirm the reply given at: “Truth about Yazid?”
For further reading see also: “On Cursing Yazīd b. Mu’āwiyah” by Imām Ibn Hajar al-Haytamī, from which we will cite two quotations from al-`Allamah Ibn Hajar here:
This is a fulfilling of the prophecy described in the hadīth:‘The affairs of my nation shall be steadfast and firm until they are split asunder by a man in Banū Umayyah named Yazīd.’
and:
As for those whom we do not know for certain if that they died as kāfirs, it is not permissible to curse them. It is not permissible to curse even those disbelievers in the present who are inimical [to Muslims]. Because damnation [la’an] means to be ‘rejected from the Mercy of Allāh’ and ‘to despair’. Only those who can know [with certainty] that the person died as a disbeliever can say so; and those who don’t, cannot. Because it is quite possible that a disbeliever might die upon Islām in his last breath.
If you understand this, you will see that [it is therefore] they made it impermissible to curse Yazīd, even though he was a transgressor, a sinner and a filthy person.
On the second issue we remind you of the command of the Holy Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) to speak with respect of all his Companions without exception. To speak ill of a single one of them is one of the enormities (kaba’ir).May Allah Most High grant us tawfeeq in his Religion here and hereafter.
There is no need to ask further on these two issues.

curse Yazīd, even though he was a transgressor, a sinner and a filthy person.
