Question:
Assalamu Allaykum wr wb,
It is my understanding that part of the belief of ahl al Sunna is a belief in destiny, being predetermination and execution of events by Allah (swt). The confusion I have is that it is said on the one hand that human beings lead a predetermined life, then on the other hand we know that Allah Almighty sent Prophets to show human beings how to struggle against evil, then surely our even very limited capacity to choose has a bearing on our personal destiny. My question is therefore, “Is our destiny immutable or can we influence our destiny through the intentional action of our (admittedly small amount of) free will.” Bismillah, thank you in advance for your answer to this question.
