Manner on seeing a dream

Question:

Assalaamu alaikum blessed scholars and staff!

I would like to know if there are rules on whether you are allowed to speak about your dreams to the people close to you or not. For instance, sometimes I get dreams that are disturbing and when I wake up I give sadaqa to the intention to remove any of the difficulty or danger I saw in the dream. However, is it okay to speak to your parents about what you saw in the dream? Or is it better to keep quiet when you see a bad (or good) dream?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

A good dream you can speak about it as much as you like but we prefer not as it will give some arrogance and then stop. If you see a bad dream don’t speak of it, but ask us instead as not everyone can interpret dreams. If you don’t ask someone with permission of wali to interpret you will disturb your life with the interpretations.
