Asalam o alaykum
Can I get married to the niece of my maternal grandmother? She is the daughter of my mother’s maternal uncle. She calls my mother ‘sister’ and she is my distant aunt. Is it halal for me to marry her? Can there be any problems in such a marriage as Imam Ghazali cautioned in marrying near relatives? Please advice.

Imam Ghazali rightfully cautioned marrying near relatives. Shariah allows you to marry the niece of your maternal grandmother, but to avoid it is better. Allah knows best.
