Removing bad effects of praying over someone

Question:

Aoa
Please I want to know that after doing any wazifa and/or reciting any Ayat or Darood over someone there most of the times comes a great or some burden over you. How can we remove that burden and cure ourselves by Allah’s help. How to remove bad effects?

Answer:

Audhubillahiminashaytanirajeem
BismillahirRahmanirRahim

Salawat and awrad are for connecting to Allah’s mercy and shafa’a of the Prophet (saws) in its various manifestations including healing. Sometimes or often times, our lower self gets in the way while we are unaware, thinking ‘we are praying for so and so’ so some of burdens reflect upon us. We must develop certainty that Allah is the One doing the salawat and the mercy descending is from Nur Muhammad peace be upon him. Also that we are just as much in need as anyone else. May we all be under His forgiveness and mercy in whatever service we are in.

WaAllah Alam.

euthanazing a suffering animal

Question:

Is it permitted to put an animal that is suffering to “sleep”?

Answer:

Imam Haskafi (Allah have mercy on him) from the Hanafi School states:

“It is permitted to slaughter a cat or dog for a benefit. And it is better to slaughter a dog if it is close to death.” Imam Ibn Abidin comments, “… for in slaughtering the dog, one is relieving it from pain. Tahtawi said that this ruling is not restricted to a dog.” (Radd al-Muhtar ala ’l-Durr al-Mukhtar 6/474, Kitab al-Sayd)

It is stated in Al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya:

“If a donkey becomes ill such that one is unable to benefit from it, then there is nothing wrong with slaughtering it to end its suffering.” (Al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya 5/361)

In the Maliki School, Imam al-Dardir (Allah have mercy on him) states in his commentary of Mukhtasar al-Khalil:

“It is permitted to slaughter a donkey or mule if one loses hope in its recovery [due to its illness], rather it is recommended to end its suffering.” (Sharh Mukhtasar al-Khalil with Hashiyat Dasuqi 2/108)

is Hijab Mandatory?

Question:

May this finds you in the best of everything by Allah’s Grace.

Would like to know what all of you, brothers and sisters, and Maulana Shaykh Hisham think of this following cogent analysis of Dr. Ibrahim Syed and his assertion that Hijab is not mandated by Qur’an. This is a very serious issue that often comes up in discussions and, therefore, needs to be addressed. Many modern women—both Muslim or otherwise– consider such restrictive dress as confining women to a lower status than men,  since such an effort appears only to serve men from their impious distraction.

Answer:

See the answer here: The Veil in Islam.

Among the proof-texts cited:

The Arabic word for “veiling” is hijab. Lexically it means cover, and in
Islam it means two things:

– Woman’s clothing such as the head-to-toe garment specifically called
jilbab and khimar.

– Separation of the places where men and women respectively congregate.

Among the proofs for the veil in the Qur’an are the verses:

O Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters and the women of the believers
to draw their cloaks (jalabib) close round them (when they go abroad)...”
(33:59). Ibn Rushd in Bidaya al-Mujtahid (1:83) said that this verse has
been adduced as proof that all of woman’s body constitutes nakedness.
Al-Qurtubi in his commentary on the verse said that the jilbab is the
cloak that conceals of the body including the head.

And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to
display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their
veils over their bosoms...” (24:31), “only that which is apparent”
meaning: their face and hands.

Please comment: Australian Muslim male students decline shaking hands of women

Question:

Can you comment on this article: NSW Muslim students decline to shake hands ?

Specifically the phrase, “The instruction is understood to derive from an Islamic hadith stating “it is better for you to be stabbed in the head with an iron needle than to touch the hand of a woman who is not permissible to you”, News Corp reports.”

Answer:

1. The original wording in al-Tabarani, al-Mu`jam al-kabir (20:211-212 nos. 486-487) and al-Bayhaqi states “to touch a woman” (an yamassa imra’atan) without any mention of the hand.

2. Ibn `Abbas, Ibn Mas`ud and others said that mass and lams in many places of the Qur’an and Hadith, although meaning “to touch”, are euphemisms for sexual intercourse and sexual foreplay. So the above is a prohibition of adultery/fornication and whatever leads to it, not handshake.

3. The hadith is not even authentic as a Prophetic statement but is actually a saying of the Companion Ma`qil b. Yasar, as authentically narrated by Ibn Abi Shayba in his Musannaf, `Awwama ed. 17:379 no, 17604:

4. As can be seen in Ibn Abi Shayba’s version, the wording is not “for you” or “for a man” but rather: “I would prefer… than for a woman who is not permissible to me” and it is about washing his head, not shaking hands. In other words it is one person’s personal choice (“I myself would prefer”) that has no probative or binding force for the rest of Muslims. Furthermore, it is about a much more intimate contact than mere hand-shaking.

5. The above documentation and explanation shows that the News Corp story was prompted by an instruction given by Muslim parents to their children that put false words into the mouth of the Prophet, upon him blessings and peace, on top of which the words were misinterpreted by the parents, and all of this was then used to misrepresent the entire Muslim community as uncouth and barbaric and as people who treat others as untouchables on the basis of gender.
