Grand Sheikh

Question:

Asalamu alaykum sheikh,

I wanted to ask what is the thing along with obeying the sheikh to attain the real and true feiz from the previous sheikhs such as Hazrath Shah naqshband radiAllah hu anh. My routines so far are, khafi zikr, 11 000 salawat khizri, 111 times darood taj, Khatham Khwajgaan shareef, Dalalil ul Khairat shareef, and salat ul tasbeeh etc, but main thing I’m trying to focus is tasawar and true humbleness.

What else must I do to attain that real faiz, as I’m weak. Please do dua and advise, jazak Allah and sorry for the lack of my adab, as adab is everything.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Their fayd is reached through rabita (tasawwur) and mahabba of your living murshid so follow what he gives you of wazifa.

The Beautiful Moon

Question:

As Salaamu Alaykum Sayyidi Mawlana, Hajjah, Family and eShaykh Staff,

Nearly two weeks ago, after Fajr Prayer, I was opening the curtains at sunrise when I noticed the Moon, and it was as if the Moon was beckoning to me. I put on my glasses and looked at the Moon, seemed quite close, and I saw the name Muhammad (pbuh), on the Moon.

I woke my husband up and showed him, but he did not quite agree with me, nevertheless, he thanked me for waking him up to show him. I took some pictures, but they showed a clear Moon.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

That was a tajalli shown to you only and shows you the true nature of the moon:

`Ali al-Qari said in his Sharh al-Shifa (1:505) in commenting upon the Prophet’s title:

{as a Lamp spreading Light} (33: 46):

Muhammad… is a tremendous light and the source of all lights, he is also a book that gathers up and makes clear all the secrets… sirajan muniran means a luminous sun, because of His saying:

بَارَكَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي السَّمَاء بُرُوجًا وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَاجًا وَقَمَرًا مُّنِيرًا

{He hath placed therein a great lamp and a moon giving light} (25:61).

this is a powerful manifestation and blessing, treasure it, and reflect upon it.

Dream: Meeting a beautiful lady

Dream:

In a wonderful green landscape I met a beautiful lady, who was tying colourful friendship bracelets for me. Their colours she also “presented” to me on a painting showing birds looking like flamingos – but fancy coloured. This lady, also I didn´t know her, was somehow very familiar to me since long time (but she wasn´t my wife). It was mentioned, that we will marry. Then we came along a dark and ugly house, wrapped all over with black threads. It was said, that her ex-husband used to live there. I asked her: “Are you still with him?” She replied: “No, it´s over now.” – Then I woke up in an exited but very happy mood.

This dream since many weeks comes to my mind again and again. Please, if you can say something about it?

Interpretation:

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:

This dream can means that you may be tricked if you follow or marry a womab who may attract you with her beauty. The green land scape and the ugly house is the result to whoever marries this woman.

And Allah(awj) knows best.

Doomsday?

Question:

Asalamulaykum wr wb,

May my salams reach everyone. I was wondering if there’s any truth behind the Mayan prophecy, in which their calendar ends on December 21, 2012, which in fact is a Friday. Is their calendar right and will it be doomsday on that day? Does it have anything to do with the coming of Imam Mahdi? I’m sorry for my lack of adab, I’m sorry for not knowing, I’m weak. Its just that this Mayan thing has been circulating for some time and I wanted some clarification from my respected sheikhs. jazakallahkhayr.

Answer:

Wa `alaykum as-Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

There is no reason to dismiss any Mayan cosmological knowledge out of hand, since nothing true is alien to Islam. However, the calendar that is the cause of so much speculation is really only a simple count of days, without any apparent regard for astrological cycles. Comparisons with the understanding of traditional Islam would therefore seem to be unnecessary, although it may be noted in passing that the Mayans also have a record of the Flood. More importantly, the paranoia about this calendar betrays that despite their faith in anti-traditional science, many modern people know that this world has an end as well as a beginning.

Of course, much more sophisticated reckonings of time based on astrological cycles were part of the inheritance of Islamic civilization. The precession of the equinoxes shows that no cycle of time is ever exactly the same, and this phenomenon was familiar to traditional science, despite the erroneous modern claim that precession discredits traditional understanding. However, when it is affirmed in traditional Islam that this world will end in the age relating to the sign of the Balance, this is a calculation apparently separate from equinoctial precession. Be that as it may, your question concerning future events belongs to a special branch of the Islamic sciences known as Jafr.

Shaykh `Abdul-Wahid Yahya has time and again explained the traditional understanding of temporal cycles, and in considering Jafr and related sciences, he affirms that these “find their application in the realm of the ‘microcosm’ as well as in that of the ‘macrocosm,’ for the initiatic process reproduces in all its phases the cosmological process itself. To have a full awareness of all these correlations, it is necessary to have reached a very high degree in the initiatic hierarchy, a degree which is called that of ‘red sulfur’ (al-Kebrit al-Ahmar)…”

Now, in this very forum Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani revealed that “Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is the Kibrit al-Ahmar in our time.” Among the lessons of this Kibrit al-Ahmar is that all events in this world now have to do, as you put it, with the coming of Imam Mahdi, `alayhi Salam. If his appearance seems overdue in relation to certain past statements of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani that apparently relate to the macrocosm – and may Allah sanctify his secret! – it would no doubt be instructive to consider also the microcosmic application of the Red Sulfur’s “sciences.”

Awrah for non-Muslim domestic workers
Awrah for non muslim domestic workers

Question:

Asalaamu alaykum,

I read that the awrah in front of non-Muslims are the same as for men I.e cover everything except for hands face and feet. Does this mean that if I hire a non-Muslim female domestic full time and living on our property that I have to cover up completely in front of her? What if I hired a Muslim domestic?

Jazaaq Allah

Answer:

Wa Alaykum Salam,

This is regarding ‘awrah (nakedness, parts that must be covered) of Muslim women vis-a-vis non-Muslim women. There are two broad views, generally speaking:

1- That it is obligatory for a Muslim woman to cover herself except the face, hands and feet, which is the same obligation with regards to men.
2- That whatever is above the navel and below the knees are not the ‘Awrah, and so may be exposed in front of the non-Muslim woman. This is also the relied-upon position between Muslim women.

In this case, scholars advise to take the first opinion (especially for Hanafis and Shafi’is) wherever possible. If there is a need or necessity, then the second opinion can be taken.
