Question:
Asalamu aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu dear Hajja Naziha,
I am a new muslima and wondering what women may do after going to toilet during their period. It seems a bit strange not to do any kind of ablution when you leave the toilet. No one around me can tell me, so can you please tell me about this? May Allah bless you and your family and keep you safe and sound here and hereafter,
wassalam
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam
Wudu is not valid therefore not recommended for a woman while she is menstruating or after childbirth.
You may just say “ghufranak” when exiting the toilet, which means “forgive me” – I.e. “forgive me, O Allah, for not being able to remember during my stay in the toilet!”
