menses and angels

Question:

Fatwa Hindi- Alamgari j1-s157 book of salah has been used by the Imam at a hospital in England to say that women should not be on call and thus present, when someone is dying as the Angels do not visit when a woman is on her mensus.

Answer:

There are many acceptable forms of worship and devotion while in the state of menses. Menstruation should not be an excuse for not remembering Allah (s).

In Hanafi Madhhab, it is recomended that a menstruating woman make wudhu (ablution) for each prayer time, sit in her usual place of worship, and make dhikr for the time it takes to finish her prayer when she can pray.

A menstruating woman can: a) Listen to the Qur’an, b) Supplicate (Du’a) and make dhikr, c) Send blessings on the beloved Messenger of Allah (s), d) Make Istighfar (Seek forgiveness) for her sins, e) Get involved in the affairs and activities in her local community and help others, etc.
