Hazrat Masoodah (ra)

Question:

As-Salaamu Alaykum to Shaykh Hisham and his family and to all contributors to this blessed website.

My wife is researching a particular female companion of the Prophet (saw) as she had a dream about her. Her name is Hazrat Masoodah (ra). Our search through Google did not pick up any information. Can someone please direct us to a site or a reference book that we can read to enlighten us about this female sahabi. Any information on hand about Hazrat Masoodah (ra) would also be appreciated.

Was-Salaam,

Answer:

Alaykum as-Salam,

There is no female Companion by that name on record. The one famous Mas`uda in history is the mother of the Sultan of Morocco Mas`uda bint Ahmad al-Wazjiti (d. 1000H).
Mas`uda means felicitous and blissful and it may mean that she is in Paradise, so it could refer to any of the wives of the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) beginning with our Mother Khadija, Allah be well-pleased with her and with all of them, or to any other female Companion of whom Allah knows best.
