Mazhab and Prayers

Question:

Salaam Shaykh Hisham,

Firstly, I can ‘t wait to see you. Forgive me if I lack adab in any way as I am naive.

1) I live in a country where majority are Shafi’e Mazhab. However, after marriage I made intention to switch to Hanafi Mazhab as I realise it was very difficult for me to keep my wudhu when my wife touches me. To my understanding, I would still have my wudhu if my wife accidentally touches me in Hanafi Mazhab. I also made the switch because I intend to follow Mawlana Shaykh Nazim. Is it allowed?

2) I have missed fard prayers and I intend to pay back before doing my sunnah prayers. Could you check and tell me how many raka’ats I need to do to complete my obligations as I want to do my Sunnah prayers.

Forgive me if I have phrase my question wrongly. Love you Mawlana.

Answer:

`Alaykum as-Salam,

1) It is up to you. However, it is best to follow the same madhhab as your community.
2) You need to check for yourself based on the number of days, weeks, months or years missed.
