Seeking marriage and independence

Question:

salaam,

I am a college student doing my masters in US. I want get married as soon as possible, but I am not financialy independent and I am worried that if I tell my family to get me married I would be a burden on them. I want to become financially independent also before getting married, as well as I want to marry very soon to prevent myself from wrong doings of the youth. Please provide me the right guidance in the light of sunnah

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

In light of sunnah the one holding sunnah is like one holding coal. That is why the Prophet (s) recommended to marry as soon as possible, as it is half of religion and it protects you. Don’t say I want to be independent. All your life you are dependent on your family. No one can claim, “I am independent”. So between them and you insha-Allah you will find financial resources. You can work as well as finish your studies.

Dogs and land

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Sheikh Hisham and Hajja Naziha,
Me, my husband and my family live in the countryside and currently have ducks and chickens. We plan to get goats soon too but also wanted to get a dog for herding and protecting the house purposes. We will be training the dog to sleep outside.
I was wondering if this is permissible? And what suggestions do you make to do on the land???? :)
JazakAllah Khair!

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

If the dog is used for hunting or guarding the house from the outside, it is OK. The dog is not allowed inside the house and must be at least 15-20 ft. from the house.

40 days

Question:

Assalamu’alaikum,

Thank you so much for answering my questions. I have heard the importance of performing ibadah in 40 days. Regarding us women who are still having period for a week or so every month, how do the 40 days calculation goes?
I remember Maulana Shaykh Nazim said about reciting Bismillah for 1000 x after Fajr for 40 days, one shall receive fountain of knowledge. So, how 40 days of discipline applied for us women? Many thanks indeed.

Salamu’alaykum

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Begin when the period stops and take a shower. Stop when it begins. This will be 21 days. For women it is enough.

Dream: Hajjah Naziha asking about salary

Dream:

I had a dream where I saw Hajjah Naziha asking me how much I get paid for being a math tutor & I told her $8 an hour. Then she said she’ll write me a check for my services and added up the amount to about 1028 & said she’ll double check with Sheikh Hisham. She also advised me to be a tutor for financial accounting. If I can understand the meaning thank you Ramadan kareem.

Interpretation:

a`udhu billah mina ‘sh-shaytani ‘r-rajeem,

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem,

See what your options are for financial accounting tutoring.  Insha-Allah there will be more rizq in it for you.

Dream: About Maulana Jalaluddin (RA) Tomb

Dream:

Asalamualikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu
I had a rather disturbing dream long time ago which if I am correct was during the night about me visiting the tomb of Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi. Suddenly the tomb was open and there were three heads inside; one of a man, one of a donkey and one of a fish like creature. All of them were rather wet and covered in a transparent jelly like substance. I distinctly remember it was his tomb because I had seen it in a photo online. It had a big turban on top of it. I don’t know what this means and I hope I have not caused him any disrespect by asking this question. Please help.

Interpretation:

a`udhu billah mina ‘sh-shaytani ‘r-rajeem,

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem,

wa `alaykum salam,

The vision of his tomb is a sign that your visit was accepted.  The disturbing part shows the burdens that the awliya carry from people.  And Allah knows best.

Need to be Forgiven

Question:

I have commited a major sin in this holy month, (intercouse, or sex) and don’t know if I ever will be fogiven? Please can you tell me what I can do or a way to repent and inshallah gain forgiveness. I am deeply stressed and feel as though nothing can be done, and that life will never be the same. Please can you do duwah I be forgiven. I am willing to do anything for forgiveness.

Answer:

As long the sun hasn’t risen from the West, the door of repentance is still open wide. Simply turn to Allah, in private. That is Tawbah. Take the obligatory bath, pray 2 raka`ats Sunnat at-Tawbah. Admit one’s guilt to Him, repent (with regret and remorse), and resolve never to repeat it again. Speak to no one of it and move on to do more good deeds to please the Lord.

A point to note, if you did it during the day time where you were required to fast, that day’s fasting becomes nullified. In this case each person must make up that day’s fasting and also make Kaffarah (expiation) by fasting 60 consecutive days thereafter with no breaks (if there are breaks within that period, the Law requires that you start again). If you are unable to do that, the last resort is to feed 60 Masakin (needy persons) each equivalent to the amount and quality of your daily meal. There is no make up or Kaffarah if it was committed between after Maghrib and before Fajr, but Tawbah, yes.

Prayer Request: Hair

Request:

Salaam,

Could I please ask for you to make dua for me as I am growing uncontrollable amounts of hair on my face and body. This is very embarassing for me as I am a girl. Please could the respectable sheikhs make dua for me.

JazakAllahu Khairun

Response:

wa `alaykum salam,

The condition described with excess unwanted hair on face and other male pattern distribution, in a woman is called hirsutism. You can google it to read all details. But the most important thing to do is to rule out medical conditions causing excess male hormone, called androgen. Hirsutism is also caused because of excess sensitivity to the androgen hormone.

Common causes of excess androgen could be secondary to medical conditions like polycystic ovary disease, or because of excess stress hormone called cortisol produced by the adrenal glands, or by oral medicines mimicking cortisol, which causes an imbalance in sex hormone. Tumors producing androgen or excess cortisol also should be ruled out.. It also could be a side effect of a medicine, Dannazol, which is used to treat endometriosis in women.

Once the medical conditions are ruled out and taken care of, by a doctor, the excess hair can be removed by electrolyses or laser procedures done by dermatologists. If it is not much hair, that can be taken care of by women at home using waxing, or tweezing, or even bleaching unwanted hair.

Insha-Allah, may Allah help make the condition better with Mawlana’s baraka.

Dr. Tasneem
