Waalaykumussalam,
Bow your forehead to the ground first thing in the morning and last thing at night and say to Allah, “You are my Creator and I am Your servant” and anything else that is on your mind. You will receive support in sha Allah.

Esau brother of Yaqub (as)

Question:

Salam alaykum,
Is there any mention of the biblical Esau, the son of Ibrahim (as), in Islamic tradition? In particular, something regarding him selling his birth right to Yaqub (as) as it says in the Bible? How authentic are those accounts? Thanks a lot.

Answer:

Waalaykumussalam.
Esau in Islamic tradition is known as ʿĪṣ b. Iṣḥāq. His name is also pronounced ʿAys. and ʿĪṣū. He is Ayyūb’s (Job) great-grandfather. I could not find that particular story in Islamic tradition.

Shaykh calls woman ‘nothing’ in front of her husband

Question:

Assalam u Alaikum,

I heard on [one shaykh’s] channel that a woman is not allowed to refer to her husband as partner because she is nothing in front of him. She is just a rib. Is it not allowed to call spouse partner?

Answer:

Waalaykumussalam warahmatullah.
“The best of you are the best-mannered towards their spouses” (Hadith). Of course she is her partner and vice versa, and much more than that. “What did you call her? Your sweetheart? She is a creator! Almost uncreated!” (Rumi, Mathnavi).
