Question:
My third husband abused my daughter. I didn’t find out till we separated. I have had a turbulent life and feel responsible. She used to pray and fast and has totally gone the opposite way. She has no belief. I am terrified of the consequences for her and me in this world and the next. She is my only child from second marriage. How should I handle her in view that she self harms?
Answer:
Your love speaks more to her than any sermon. Treat her with utmost leniency and tenderness and leave the rest to Allah Most High. He will make up for what she has endured and for the theft of her innocence through your prayers and He will bless you here and hereafter in sha Allah.

Understanding Qur’an
Question:
salaam,
I always get this question in my mind while reading the Qur’an, the incidents in the Qur’an are always quoted to be in context of the situation of the verse in which it was revealed so does that mean we should read Qur’an thinking of it to be meant for those incidents which took place at that time or taking Qur’an into modern age context as well? The stories of various incidents and prophets are old so how do i relate to them in this era,
I hope u understand my question and will help me understand Qur’an better by answering the question.

Answer:
Wa’alaykumussalam,
Yes, you can do that – which is only one of the many ways. There are many ways to understand the Qur’an and many Tafsirs by our great scholars that may give you a variety of understanding, however doing it so on your own without guidance is not one of them. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and Shaykh Hisham have made Tafsirs of many chapters of the Qur’an, and their explanations always relate to our modern lives. This is another means for you to understand further.
May Allah grants us understanding of the Qur’an and make us Ahl al-Qur’an!
