Condition of the Muslim Ummah

Question:

Salam Alaykum wrwb. I am deeply disturbed by what is happening in the Muslim world (especially in Palestine) with such unthinkable atrocities and loss. They are in my constant prayers but it feels like we need to do more. Many I know are engaged in regular protests, writing to the congress, organizing fund raisers etc. and those who are silent are deemed as not being one with the ummah. What is our guidance on this? How should we fulfill our responsibility to our brothers and sisters in dire need so that we can stand in front of Allah and say we did our part? Is there any relief in sight? Please forgive this poor servant and keep me in your du’a.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

The only thing we can do in this time is pray for relief, because acting with any one group you may inadverdently be drawn into the plotting of those who are not fully on the way of Haqq and come to harm. For that reason this is a time of complete darkness and guidance is nearly unavailable except for enlightened Shaykhs who are rare. Don’t listen to people as many are easily swayed by sloganeering and emotional appeals.
