Dream of Sultanul Awliya

Dream:

Assalaamwualaikum.

I have the desire to become a murid of Mawlana Sheikh Nazim Haqqani. Alhamdulillah, I was blessed with a dream in which Sultanul Awliya was performing salaah in my house. Thereafter he sat with his tasbeeh and continued reading some zikr. Please may I have some feedback. JazakAllah

Interpretation:
wa `alaykum salam,

This dream means your desire to be accepted as a murid of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim has been accepted and verified. Praying in your house means Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is doing worship and gifting its thawab to you, as he does to all his murids, and doing tasbih is sign that this is continuous, insha-Allah until you leave this dunya. And it is recommended to take physical baya` with him through his representative or online at the Naqshbandi website.

putting an animal down

Question:

Asalam u alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu sayyedi.

This question has been teasing me for a long time and I hope to be enlightened by your knowledge insh’Allah. The question is: Is it permissable in Islam to put down an animal if it has been suffering and if it’s quality of life will be unpleasant in the future? My dream is to be a vetrinary surgeon in the future and by knowing this I wiill know if I am allowed to persue it or not.
Jazak’Allah Sayyedi
I hope to see you in Bury, England.

Answer:

as salam `alaykum wa rahmat Allahi wa barakatuh,

It is NOT permissible to take away any life without an allowed cause.
It is NOT permissible to be cruel to, or subject animals to harm or pain.
It is permissible to kill harmful animals to society or if they invade our habitat.

Killing them must be as merciful as possible to avoid suffering. Animals are nations just like humans, as mentioned in the Quran, and we must respect their rights as the creations of our Lord.

In general “mercy killing”, or euthanasia assumes that we know what is better for the creature that is suffering, whereas it is better to leave them to their Lord and not take death into our own hands. Allowing an already dying creature to die by avoiding unnatural means of life support as long as we provide basic necessities as food and water is acceptable. We must provide basic necessities and comfort to the animals we care for. We are responsible in front of Allah for their care and comfort! One of the miracles of our beloved Messenger, Salla Allahu alayhi wa Sallam, was that a mistreated camel spoke to him complaining about her owner and as in many other examples he (s) protected that animal’s rights.

It is permissible and desirable, if one is so inclined and suited, to pursue veterinary medicine. It is a necessary part of our society and it is important that there are good, righteous, and conscientious people in that field. Local and College rules may dictate how easy it may be to pursue that specialty and not partake in questionable activity, I believe in most Western countries one is allowed to refrain from behaviors that are against his beliefs. In the US it was estimated there are at least 500 Muslim veterinarians. Getting in touch with local righteous Muslim veterinarians will show you how it can be done. May Allah grant you success and help bring an opening of mercy from Allah through you to society.

Dream: Surat al-Fatiha

Dream:

AssalamuAlaikum-Warahmatullahi-Wabarakatuhu,

Respected Sheikh,

I saw in my dream,a page on which Surah-Al-Fatiha was written and the specific verse “Ih’dinas-siraatal-mustaqeem” has the grammatical “madd” on the entire ayat some 2-3 times which in reality in The Holy Quran its not there. I even saw my face shinging bright white. My cousin told me “You became fat like your mom”.

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

The dream you describe is a good dream and indicates that insha-Allah your religion is strong and you will have protection against evil, your du`a is answered and you might go on Hajj. Light represents guidance. May Allah Most High make the Bridge over Hellfire wide and easy to cross for you and us and bring us to Him in safety.

Near Death Experiences

Question:

Assalamu Aleykum WaRahmatullahi WaBarakatuhu of staff and Shuyukh of this wonderful website. May Allah bless your efforts – Ameen

Can you advise from an Islamic perspective please what western society calls NDEs or Near Death Experiences? Some souls leave their bodies and allegedly have the option to return to continue to the hereafter or return to dunya. The common feeling is the majority of the people who experience this feel an overwhelming feeling of peace once their soul leaves the body.

Thank you for your time and effort in responding to this and all other questions. Jazakamullah Khair

Answer:

`Alaykum as-Salam,

it is not true that one can have the “option” to die or to go back to life, since Allah Most High said of creatures {He defers them for a specified term and when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they advance it} (16:61). It is possible that the feeling of peace stems not just from the soul roaming (which it also does during sleep) but from a deliberate surrender to the consciousness of death; and it is the surrender itself that is beneficial and required of us. Allah knows best. May He grant you and us spiritual clarity in life and at the time of death as well as in the grave and upon resurrection.

Dream: seeing Jesus as a Christian?

Dream:

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Dear Sheikh,

I was raised as a Christian, but as a child I developed an intuitive dislike and anger for the worship of Jesus and the claim that he is God’s son. So much did I dislike what was being imposed on me that I even started disliking Jesus himself thinking he had claimed so himself. Then, when I was about 11 years old, I saw a dream in which Jesus was in a dark room with some evil people torturing him in invisible ways. Jesus was in great agony, running about the room and screaming, trying to free himself. When I woke up I felt a deep human connection to him and never disliked him afterwards, but adopted the view that he was misunderstood, but I still didn’t subscribe to the Christian doctrine. I didn’t think much of the dream since, only when I read in an article by Maulana Sheikh Nazim that when you see a prophet in a dream it means you really saw him did I remember it. But I’m still unsure as I saw Jesus in a humiliating situation and maybe it would not be fit for a prophet to show himself like that to an ordinary child. Could you please shed some light on it. Thanks and Salam

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam,

Seeing a Prophet in dream in an inappropriate position is a reflection of the misguidance of either the viewer or the community of that Prophet, and Allah knows best. Alhamdulillah Allah guided you to safety and right belief then connected you with His friend in our time, so it is best for you to focus on Mawlana’s instructions for you and his teachings, namely servanthood, love of Allah and His Prophet (and all Prophets), and service to His creation, without anymore dwelling on the past as Allah Most High has erased it from your record and replaced it with a better outlook.

Dream: Yaa Rasulullah (saws)

Dream:

I dreamt that I was running into a building yelling,”Yaa Rasulullah (saws)” and I came to a stop outside a room with an open door and I percieved Rasulullah (saws) lying upon a mattress covered upto the extent I could not see him and his staff was propped against the wall, though I believed and kind of knew it was him. Then I walked over to the room next to his in which I percieved my brother was sleeping then I awoke.

Interpretation:

Calling upon the Messenger of Allah (s) falls in line with the du`a of the blind man the Prophet (s) saws prescribed for him to gain back his sight.

“O Allah, I am asking you (as’aluka) and
turning to you (atawajjahu ilayka) with your Prophet Muhammad
(bi nabiyyika Muhammad), the Prophet of mercy;
O Muhammad (ya Muhammad), I am turning with you to my Lord regarding
my present need / I am asking my Lord with your intercession
concerning the return of my sight

(inni atawajjahu bika ila rabbi fi hajati hadhih – “this dream reflects the Love that Allah has put in your heart for His beloved Muhammad (s) and that love makes you present with him even if you don’t see him, you recognize his presence, his signs and his sunnah (staff).

Is the Prophet (s) the Best of Creation?

Question:

Is there ijma` (scholarly consensus) that the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam) is the “best of creation”?

Answer:

Rather there is ijma` of Ahl al-Sunna, the Shi`a, the Mu`tazila, and the entire school of Muhammad b. `Abd al-Wahhab over the Prophet being the best of creation, breaching which there are only three scholars on record: Ibn Hazm al-Zahiri, the Mu`tazili al-Zamakhshari, and the mujassim Ibn Abi al-`Izz who was imprisoned for it as related by Ibn Hajar in his Inba’ al-Ghumr (1:258-260). Shaykh `Abd Allah al-Talidi said in his Tahdhib al-Shifa’ (p. 162): “The dissent of Ibn Hazm and al-Zamakhshari carries no weight.”

See The Prophetic Title “Best of Creation” at the ASFA website.
