Allah mentioned in the Qur’an that one can give even a qintar to one’s wife which is a large amount of gold as long as you don’t waste. Abu Hurayra said the blessed wedding feast is the one where the poor are also invited.

i’m dressed in black

Dream:

A.o.A, I had this dream i’m dressed in black, and i’m mourning over something, and this guy (whose family put forth proposal and then declined), comes into my house with a variety of sweets, and i touch his hand and i’m shocked that his hands are dark.

Interpretation:

Walaikumas Salam Wa Rahmatulah,

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem,

The color black in a dream means prosperity and happiness. So if you meant black by the word “dark” then it is a good sign that this man will bring happiness in your life. Sweet indicates insha Allah he will propose again and there is khair in this marriage. And only Allah knows the future with perfect accuracy.

Question:

Assalamoalaikum dear sheikh,

I hope  you’re  well.

Sheikh Hamza Yusuf quoted  a hadith that 72 sects of the Muslims will go paradise and 1 to hell. What  is the authenticity of this please?

Jazak Allah khair

Answer:

`Alaykum salam,

This has long been agreed upon by the scholars as a forgery.

al-Saffarini and the Saved Sect

Question:

As Salam Alaikum

In the Name of Allah the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.

Bismillah wal Hamdulilah was Salatu was Salam ‘ala Sayyidina Rasul
Allah.

al-Saffarini says: ‘Some scholars said: (the saved sect) meaning, Ahl al-Hadeeth, i.e. the Atharis, the Ash’aris and the Maturidis.’ I say: The wording of the Hadeeth, i.e. his statement: ‘except one sect’, contradicts the idea of multiplicity, and thus I said:

This text (about the saved sect) cannot be applied to any sect save the Ahl al-Athar’ (1/76)

has Imam Safarini contradicted himself here?

Your help would be greatly appreciated and it is urgently needed,

Jazkallah Khair.

Answer:

`Alaykum salam

The statement you quoted is not by al Saffarini but by some later person.

wassalam.

Hadith of Creation

Question:

Assalamoalaikum dear sheikh,

I bought your hadith forgery book in hardback. I just read in it that the hadith in Muslim about creation starting was claimed to be forged by some. But you refuted that claim.
It mention light being created after the trees. However we know that light is from the sun, which has existed before the Earth. We also know that trees cannot exist without light.
How would you reconcile the basic scientific knowledge? Or could light mean something like fire?
Your note saying that shajar can mean stars, also seems problematic since the stars existed before the Earth where as this interpretation would say that the earth existed before the stars.

JazakAllah khair for your time.

Answer:

Alaykum salam

There is no objection to considering some of these creations a being listed non-sequentially. The original says “and” but not “then”.

Convert required to divorce non-Muslim spouse?

Question:

As-salamu ‘alaikum,

An urgent question that has certainly come up again and again, requiring an absolutely authoritative answer, is what is to be done if a married woman accepts Islam but her husband does not.

Let’s say as an extreme example that they’ve been married for fifty years, have ten children together and love each other dearly. The wife has no job skills with which to provide for herself, much less for her children; the husband is ill or handicapped and his wife takes care of his needs. He’s fine with her new faith and lets her practice as she likes and teach it to their children but does not want to accept or commit to it for himself.

What to do? Telling a Muslim woman who is already married to a non-Muslim man that she must divorce him because staying with him is haram, deserves the death penalty and will earn her Hell isn’t the same thing as telling an unmarried Muslimah that their intended marriage to a non-Muslim man is prohibited and will nullify her profession of Islam. Moreover, there are no children involved who love their father and might end up traumatized and hating Islam if it the breakup of the household. Additionally, forcing *already-married couples *to break up would certainly deter many non-Muslim women from converting to Islam, no matter how much they may wish to if it means breaking an existing or possible future marriage.

Please understand that I’m not arguing with Allah Subhanuhu wa T’a’ala. Hasha,  God forbid! Rather, I’m just trying to understand how the Islamic Shar’iah deals with this specific situation, which is certainly not rare in our time. The website,

https://unity1.wordpress.com/2012/01/13/what-happens-to-a-marriage-if-one-of-the-couple-converts-to-islam/

deals with the issue but I need to know how acceptable this opinion is for Ahl-us-Sunnah wal-Jam’ah. May Allah greatly reward you for any help you can give.

Answer:

Alaykum salam,

If there is acceptance on his part and tolerance for his wife’s religion then there is hope for himself eventually accepting Islam. This hope is the basis for validating the continuity of their marriage as in the case of Fatima bint Asad and her non-Muslim husband Abu Talib.

And Allah knows best.
