Rights of a wife

Question:

Asalam U Alikum Maulana Shaykh Hisham,

I want to know if a husband is allowed to hit his wife in Islam. Are there no rights for a wife at all? Is she just an incubator for her husband and when the husband and wife separate who does the child belong to Islamically?
Jazak Allah

Miss you, hope to be in your divine presense soon if im lucky…

Answer:

A`udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem

In some situations a husband may be forced to use light disciplinary actions to correct the moral straying of his wife. This action is to be used only if one is sure it would improve the situation.

Children belong to their fathers. However, Qur’an advises the husband and wife to agree in a lawful manner regarding their children’s future after divorce (2:233).

Married to a narcissist

Question:

11 years ago a divorced con artist presented me with a Qur’an. Naturally, I assumed her to be faithful and practicing Muslimah. After living with her, I found that she possesses all 3 signs of a hypocrite. Her public image is impeccable. She prays, fast but at the same time practice malicious hypocrisy and remains arrogant. I went to local imams, even psychiatrist to find a cure. One imam advised to play Sura Bakara- which I did at least 100 times including verse 10: “in their hearts is a disease…”. Psychiatrist diagnosed the mental illness: “Cluster B Personality Disorder” which includes Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Doctors indicated there is no cure. Authors say living with narcissist is “closest thing to Hell on earth”. I have 2 kids and feel trapped. The law here in US is lopsided. I have patiently waited taking a lot of psychological torment. Could you please help?

Answer:

Surat al-Baqara is the best protector in sha Allah. Do not trust despairing assessments of unbelievers but have sabr and be sure of Divine support and reward.

Khalwat and Sholat

Question:

Assalamualaikum wr wb,

There were disturbances in my mind while reading a story about the khalwa of Syeh Nazim with Syeh Abdulloh ad Dagestan. The story explained that Syeh Nazim just came out to see the sun and when for praying in jamaah. From that story, Syeh Abdulloh never saw the sun when in khalwa and just looked at the candles alone. Did Syeh Abdulloh not prayers together (jamaah)?

Another story, Syeh Abdulloh was in khalwa another time for 5 years. Based on the story, the snake wrapped him for 40 days, how about his prayers in jamaah?

Sorry if my language is not good.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

As for the Madina khalwa, the Pen of the Law is lifted from those who are in a state of unconsciousness or non-cognizance.

As for the 5-year khalwa, it was in the wilderness, like Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani for 12 years.

Dream: Grave of Hazrat Abdul Mutalib

Dream:

Asalamu Alaikum,

Me with my granddad and deceased aunt were visiting the blessed-grave of Hazrat Abdul Mutalib. Grave was raised with soil and had a headstone with there name on it.

There was also another un-raised grave of some kafir uncle of RasoolAllah (peace-be-upon-him) my aunt walked on that grave and I asked her not to do so because it’s not the right thing to do.

We asked an Arabic girl to confirm if it was the grave of Hazrat Abdul Mutalib and when I decided to take a pic the ‘grave’ opened his eyes and started talking to me (as if I was talking with Hazrat Abdul Mutalib) and they told me not to take pic. I asked if they were displeased with me. They said its because of this area/time and people’s negative opinion on this topic. They told me now that they saw me they will remember me forever. I felt happy after hearing this.

Interpretation:

Wa `alaykum salam,

Congratulations on such a magnificent dream. That dream signifies you are from descendants of Sayyidina `Abdul-Mutallib (as) and he is appearing in the dream to give you good tidings for your future. Warning you not to take pictures because of people’s bad opinion means don’t do things that might appear haram and don’t make yourself appear different than other Muslims in your community to avoid fitna, which
is the recent direction given to mureeds by Mawlana Shaykh Nazim as mentioned by Shaykh Hisham Kabbani in his khutba of June 21, 2013. And Allah knows best.

Dream: Visiting Maqam

Dream:

Assalaamu Alaikkum Rahmathullah,

I saw a dream on Monday, that I am visiting a Maqam Sharif of an Awliyya, the Qabar was not in/on the ground. It was uplifted with 3 pillers (one edge was standing without support). I am touching the cloths upon the Qabar and do duas (same dua I always asks). Beside there was another Qabar too. I had a book in my hand. In that its written the Qabar Sharif was of Shaykh Abd Hashim/Hisham.
Please ask my Shaykh to do dua for me for getting a job.

Jazakkallah Khair.

Interpretation:

The Qabrs represent the spiritual stations of our Shaykhs, that they are already passed on to the other life, in this life. Three pillars represent three Qutbs supporting the fourth Qutb, who is in the Qabr (the Servant of Allah, Shaykh Hisham), and all are
supported by the Ghawth of this time, the other Qabr, which represents Sultan al-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Nazim `Adil al-Haqqani. Allah knows best. Since you were reading the du`a you always read, the dream means you are connected to these great awliyaullah by your constance and consistency in du`a, so keep on doing it always.

Emotionally abusive marriage

Question:

Salam,

It is with heavy heart and sadness that I am writing to you for guidance. My husband of 11 years is being emotionally and mentally abusive to me. He calls me names, shouts when we talk, is very controlling about who I see, where I go, often refusing me to speak or see anyone whom ever he chooses for me not to without valid reasons. He uses religion against me as weapon (eg “heavens not on your side, I will make dua to destroy you, a woman is supposed to please her husband to spiritually rise.) I feel very intimidated and controlled buy him. This has been getting progressively worse for 8 months. I’ve just had a baby and he has not been supportive and I’m estranged from my family due to his behaviour towards my family. Please help.

Answer:

Alaikumsalam. W.W.

A wife should be pleased with their husband and she has to respect whatever he likes or dislikes her to do. Make him happy even if she disagrees with him. Sacrifice yourself, your heart and your right for the sake of marriage and family. Be patient, make dua and recite 100 times Astaghfirullah, Ya Latif 129 times, and Salawat 100 times as often as possible every day as weapons to fight your negative feelings. Start creating peace and harmony. Insha Allah Allah will take care of your happiness and you will be on His side.
