Divorce

Question:

We have been happily married for several years, but his family always tried to ruin my marriage but he always protected me against their evils intentions. Two months ago he went to see his mother in and said that he is divorcing me. I tried my best to save the marriage but he has sent divorce papers with three talaqs on it which according to my sect is counted as one. His mother and khala are into magic/spells and he knew that. Please ell me a wazifa to melt his heart for me. Anything to break the magic spell on him. Please dua for me. JAZAKALLAH.

Answer:

Your husband should find a Muslim scholar to talk to his parents and warn them of grave consequences for their destructive behavior. Read Hasbunallahu Wa Ni’mal-Wakeel 300 times every day and night.

Dream: Darkness and Kafn

Dream:

Night 1: I saw darkness engulfing the sky and someone says it’s the end of the world and I am so worried and ashamed that I have done nothing with which I can face my Lord with pride…I am very distressed.
Night 2: My mother (she is crying) hand me a bag with my kafn and some flowers saying that when the flower wilts the petals will fall and my dad will bring the kafn bag for me when I need it.

Interpretation:

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm
:

The two dreams are interrelated and show that you are at a turning point in your spiritual life.

The first dream teachs you to apply the principle of muhasabah, self-accounting, everyday to purify your inner self. Umar ibn al-Khattab (raḍiy-Allāhu ‘anhu) said:

Judge yourselves before you are judged; and weigh your actions in the balance before they are weighed; When you are brought to account tomorrow, it will be much easier for you if you have already brought yourself to account today…” [Ahmad and Abu Nu`aym]

The second dream points to the spiritual station of the death of the ego: to die before you die as the Prophet (ṣall Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, “If you want to see someone who died before he died, look at Abu Bakr as-Siddiq.”

Your parents in the dream represent the Murshid al Kamil who will guide you to reach your spiritual reality in the Divine Presence.

And Allah knows best.

Then my mum saw her sister in law digging the garden very deep, and her sister in law she ends up digging the fresh corn as well. My mum would really appreciate it if you could tell her what is meant by this dream.

Jazak allah.

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:

This dream can mean that your mum’s sister-in-law is curious about your family line, and checking deeply about who is who in the family garden line.

Under what circumstances is abortion permitted?

Question:

Salaam dear Shaykh,

Ya Sayyidi, I was posed with a very difficult question by a sister, therefore I am in need of your assistance. A 1_ year old Muslim girl has become pregnant out of wedlock. The young girl I’m informed is 6-7 weeks pregnant. The man involved will not commit to her but rather he has threatened her that if she was to go ahead with this pregnancy he would harm her. The mother of the girl is aware of her pregnancy but her father is not. The young girl would like an abortion but her mother is worried, as she is aware that abortion is haraam.

Ya Sayyidi would you shed light on whether it is permissible for her to have an abortion and if not what are her options? I am confused by what I should advise as I have read and heard many rulings regarding abortion but I needed clarity for this particular situation, so that I may provide accurate nasiha to the sister, billahi tawfeeq.

I kindly await your response.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

If there is danger for the life of the mother then abortion is permitted. In this case since the danger is entirely due to the threat then the added sin of aborting the fetus is entirely on his soul while the sin of zina is shared by both. If however the threat is assessed as mere words and can be deflected through parental intervention, a police report, adequate protection etc. then there is no danger and the abortion is not permitted.

Dream: Istikhara dreams

Question:

Assalamu’alaikum,

I like a guy who I want to marry so I prayed salat-ul-istikhara for the purpose. In my dream I saw that guy getting married to an unknown lady who seemed elder than he is. I took a break for a few days and then again did istikhara. This time I dreamt that guy getting married to a young girl unknown to me and even more I was present at the ceremony watching him sadly, he was too staring at me. I did istikhara twice having the same dream but could not interpret any of them. Can anyone please help me interpreting my dreams? Allah Hafiz.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Dream points to discrepancy in timing. Let him know of your disposition toward him so that you can give him a chance to be on the same page as you, or so that you can move on if he does not respond.

`Isha Salat, Imam Shafi`i

Question:

A while back I mentioned reading a piece from Shaykh Nuh Keller, where he stated that for Shafis Isha prayer should not be offered later than 40-70 minutes directly after Maghrib. (I know that Isha is the same for Maliki fiqh. Is 50 or 60 minutes directly after Maghrib salaat ok?

Jazakullah khair Sidi.

Answer:

The last position of Imam al-Shafi`i leaves very little time for Maghrib so it is safest to pray it as early as possible, certainly within the 40-minute limit.
