Is Ghoon allowed in Islam?

Question:

Asalaamualaikum respected Maulana Shaykh Nazim and Maulana Shaykh Hisham and the staff of eshaykh.

I just wanted to know if the practice of ghoon is allowed in Islam? I know it is common in Shias, but is it an act that is forbidden in Islam? Please, I would like someone to please put some light on this topic. There are not lot of people who talk about it but it is becoming very common in my country and I would really like to know if it holds any importance in Islam. Am very confused about the whole topic, please help me to clear my doubts.

JazakAllah.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Fasting 9-10 Muharram is one of the biggest Sunnas of the year; and fasting, giving sadaqa and praying nafl in the first 10 days and nights of Muharram is rewarded like shahada. Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) emphasized fasting in Muharram most after Ramadan. The rest is all man-made play and distraction to lead people away from the blessed Prophetic practices and advices, so draw your own conclusions.

Dream: Milk Dream in Istikhara

Dream:

ASA,
I’m worried for marriage. For 2 days, after Isha, I read istikhara dua (no istikhara nafil offered), to ask Allah for marriage hint. 1st night, I open a fridge filled with trays of biscotti (biscuits), openly displayed, & nimco (salty snacks) which was in invisible packs, dad brought both. I like them in real life. 2nd night, I saw my brother and dad return home from a wedding, & they brought from their milk & bun kabab…there were 2 bags of milk which my brother gave me, one regular kind, another sweet milk with almonds which was opened & slightly used. Bun kababs were 3, & were cold, I saw myself warming them up on a pan so we can eat it.

Interpretation:

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:

Wa `alaykumu s-salāmu wa rahmatu l-lāhi wa barakātuh,

Both istikharas are positive although it shows that your marriage will go through some difficulties.

As recommended by Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, you may recite daily 100 to 1000 times “HasbunAllah wa ni`ama ‘l-wakeel” and Salawat al-Tunjina 7 times to prevent and resolve marriage problems.

And Allah knows best.

Sound Light Therapy

Question:

BISMILLAH. AS-SALAAMU ALAIKUM,

MY QUESTION: IS THERE ANY HARM IN USING SOUND LIGHT THERAPY? I HAVE A BRAIN MACHINE THIS IS A BIOFEEDBACK INSTRUMENT. IT IS SUPPOSE TO HAVE HEALING AND MEDITATIVE POSSIBILITIES. I HAVE JUST RECENTLY TAKEN BAYYAH, SO I AM QUESTIONING EVERY THING. PEACE BE UPON YOU.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

It is enough to use the mind and heart Allah Most High created for you and gave you to know Him and reflect with. Man-made devices fall short and are of no concern here. However, if it is medically recommended then there is no harm in using it.

Dream: Covered in mud and soil

Dream:

I dreamed I went to perform wudhu and noticed that my arms and legs were covered in mud and soil. I washed it off first then performed wudhu. I am experiencing a lot of anxiety and depression now because I met a man and we decided we wanted to marry but suddenly he changed his mind and walked away. I have been reciting dua of Dawud, allesalaam for his return. My future is bleak at home if I don’t marry. A friend is telling me to not do this dua because this man is no good for me.

Interpretation:

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:

This dream represent your current state of anxiety and depression.

You may recite this du’a with daily recitation of salawat on Prophet (ṣall Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam).

Regarding the Du’a of Sayidina Dawud (ʿalayhi s-salām), It has to be done for 40 days. If after this period of time, there is no change, you should move on, Allah (swt) will send better for you insh Allah.

And Allah knows best.

Power of Anbiya and Awliya

Question:

Assalam o Alaikum shaykh,

Do Ahlus Sunna believe that Prophet (saw) is watching this whole universe and also witnessing the deeds of the whole ummah, Is there nothing which Allah is watching but not Prophet(saw). If not then what are those things that only Allah is watching and not Prophet (saw). Some people say that nothing is hidden from the Prophet(saw). When we do zikr of Friends of Allah. Should we believe that the particular Wali of Allah whose zikr is being done is watching and hearing us and then become happy and therefore pray to Allah on our behalf and then we will get reward of that zikr. Or should we believe that the wali of Allah is not watching and hearing us and Allah will directly give us reward because we are doing the zikr of those whom Allah loves.

What gives us more reward, zikr of Allah or zikr of Awliya?

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

The knowledge of the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) is like a drop in the ocean of the knowledge of Allah Most High as stated by Imam Ahmad Rida Khan in al-Dawlat al-Makkiyya. Who fully knows the Divine Essence (dhat) except Allah Himself? As he also said, we must however be careful to understand that drop as an ocean in itself, so it is a drop of magnification (ta’zim) not disparagement (tanqis).

As for this whole universe it is like a small point in the Prophet’s knowledge, since he himself said as narrated in the Sahih: “Truly I am the one who knows Allah the most among all of you.” And what is knowledge of this whole universe next to knowledge of its Creator?

This shows the reality of the Prophet’s true witnessing of all creation as indicated in the Qur’an by his name of Shaheed, and he sees it all as one can easily see the four corners of his room according to Shaykh Abd Allah al-Ghumari in his book on the Prophetic Attributes.

As for the Awliya they receive a share of that witnessing by virtue of the inheritorship of ulama from Anbiya, each according to his respective connection and level, which are reflected in the Salawat and Duas which Allah inspired them through Prophetic dictation, and Allah knows best.

Dream: Mince Meat from Butchers

Dream:

Asalaam o alai kum,

Recently I had a dream that I brought mince meat from butchers. I phoned my mother home to ask her how much weight in mince meat she wanted. I got the meat and walked out of the shop. As I walked, I saw to the left of me a Hindu idol which was shining as if it was made of marble or something very light (not sure). I walked past some brothers from the local area, one of whom was shining!

Interpretation:

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:

Wa `alaykumu s-salāmu wa rahmatu l-lāhi wa barakātuh.

It shows that you will have to make a decision between two choices regarding a dunya matter, represented in your dream by the meat (job offer, business etc ). Both of them will look like a good opportunity but only one will be good for you and your Islam.

When you will encounter this situation, join to every non-fard salat the niyya of istikhara and recite a lot of salawat until Allah chooses for you in a clearer fashion insh Allah.
