Brandy

Question:

Aslamalaikum WR WB respected Mashaykh,
May Allah bestow all His blessings upon you all.
I have a question about brandy. It has 35-60% alcohol in it. It is obviously haram. In some parts of Pakistan its really cold in winter and there are no proper arrangements for heating. Some people mix a spoon of brandy in water and drink to avoid cold. Is it permissible to use brandy or any alcoholic product for such purpose or as a medication for body pain or any other condition?

I have another question, is it allowed in islam to get a “Mouakal”? Like people talk about Moukalat of different surahs. I’m sorry for my lack of knowledge. I request your guidance & look forward to your reply. Thank you. JazakAllah Khairyn.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
Any substance of alcohol that is so insignificant because of its quantity when mixed with halal substance is forgiven if it does not exceed the amount of 0.5% of alcohol. Therefore juice, bread, ketchup, mustard etc. that contain less than 0.5% of alcohol is allowed.

The practice in Pakistan you referred to in your question is without any doubt a haram practice.

Prayer Request: Sister seeking marriage

Request:

Salaam shaykh I have a sister who I am worried about. She wants to get married however she hasn’t got any suitable or compatible spouses to choose from. My father does not look for her. My father only chose my cousin for her who is not her choice because of him being different and not trustable yet. I don’t trust him either personally due to past family problems and other reasons. Please can you pray for her and give her some advice?

Distressed- Dua Manzil?

Question:

Asolamalykum,

I am in great distress. I’m struggling. The more harder I try, the more I fail and become unsuccessful. I can’t get married & never receive a good proposal. If anyone is interested they move away the next day for no reason.

So could you please grant me permission from Shaykh Nazim & Shaykh Hisham Kabbani for the following:

1. To recite Dua Manzil (33 Ayahs) daily & Surah Muzammil 41x every Sundays (for complete protection & prevention from black magic).

2. To give me something to recite to get the best marriage proposals, so I get married and be happy.

3. To give me something to recite so all my troubles in life are removed, & my life is filled with peace, harmony, and I be successful and happy.

Please help me & provide a detailed answer not a brief one.

You have permission but it is enough for you if you wish, to read Fatiha at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day for protection.

Long term problem

My head swims and I feel choking and my left hand falling a sleep often.

Is our Awrad for Allah or Sheikh?

Question:

Hi, (salaams and blessing upon you all).

I was given daily awrad from the Naqsbandhi Tariqa.
I was wondering do we think of shiekh Nazim while we do this awrad or do we think  of Allah while doing the awrad?

May seem like silly question but its better to be safe than sorry!

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

All worship is for Allah Alone without partner. However, as Allah cannot be seen or visualized, we must seek the means of approach, al-wasilah, as Allah said:

{O ye who believe. Do your duty to Allah and seek the means of approach to Him} Al-Ma’idah [5:35]

In the case of those who follow a shaykh the wasilah for rabitah can be one of the following, according to the teachings of Grandshaykh `Abdullah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani (q) as related to us by Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani:

1) the Ka`ba

2) the Muwajjat ash-sharifa of Sayyidina Muhammad (s)

If you reach a higher level you may use:

3) the Shaykh himself

All these are Sha`airillah, the Symbols of Allah swt, towards which directing one’s self is permitted.

Incident while reciting Quran

Question:

Asalam alaikum,

I was reciting the Quran some years ago, at the time my mother was unwell at hospital. I was looking after my brothers, I was fine emotionally though, not flustered or upset in the least. I don’t know if this has any bearing on what I experienced.

So I was reciting the Quran, as the pages were open in front of me, I felt what I can only describe as a hug. I felt light wrap around me, it filled me with warmth and light. It lasted as long as a hug would normally last, and then it was gone.

I’ve wondered what it was that I experienced, it seemed to have come from the Quran. Could you should any light on this incident?

Prayer Request: Please pray for me

Asalam’Alykum Wa rahmatulah,
I am blessed for what I have and for the previous duas, but lately I have not been performing my dean and orders of the tariqa to my best ability. I feel that shaytan is overpowering. Sometimes I feel hopeless but always ask for forgiveness. As I am also facing a big decision for which life career path I should chose and wish to get married but am told its not my appropriate time. Sayyidi can you please make istikhara and dua for me, please let me make those around me and my teachers proud. Forgive me for any lack of adab.

`Alaykum Salam,
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham is praying for you in sha Allah. Continue to ask forgiveness, say shahada, salawatul Fatih, make tawba and all this wipes the slate clean and enters you Paradise. It is shaytan that is weak and hopeless not the believer. As for marriage and career the earlier the better so make istikhara and trust in Allah.

Prayer Request: Insomnia, aggression and sleepless baby

Request:

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wabarakatuhu,
 I will be grateful to anyone who would please make dua for me to cure my insomnia, and also make my baby a better sleeper, and to cure my resulting aggression problem.

Soon since after joining Tariqah over two years ago I have had a very serious insomnia problem, often not falling asleep until after Fajr. I have tried all kinds of things, many duas befor sleeping, dhikr before sleeping, relaxation techniques, meditation etc., nothing seems to work. The problem is that I also have a toddler who wakes up many times during the night to be fed, which aggravates the problem, and its very difficult for me to stay
calm and grateful. Sometimes I cannot control my hands…
Please pray for me and my child.

Take naps in the day and use help from mother or aunts to give you some rest time. Insomnia is the condition of mu’min but anger is from shaytan so work on that first and foremost. Recite “Ya Haleem” x100 daily and breathe deeply when baby wakes you, remember Allah and do not be angry.
