Pepper for Voice

Question:

Salam,

In one of the sohbas recorded over the past couple of years Mawlana was drinking a hot beverage and said something with the meaning of: that subhanAllah there is a herb/plant for everything and that for the voice it is pepper (referring to what he was drinking). Perhaps Hajja Naziha or Shaykh Hisham can explain how to use pepper for the voice (how to prepare this drink it and in what dose)? and what type of pepper? Is there anything else that is advisable to treat voice fatigue and eventually loss of voice due to voice fatigue?

Thank you

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem:

Breathless during Dhikr & Recitations

Question:

I have a friend who sometimes gets a very heavy feeling in her chest and becomes breathless when she recites. It can happen at any time of the day, either when she makes dzkir or recites surahs etc. Is there anything she can say or do to help this, please? I see her clutching her chest and looking very distressed. She has no medical problem Alhamdulilah..
Thank you very much…Salaams to all :)

Answer:

a`udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem:

You indicate that your friend has already been medically evaluated, which is necessary. Let her recite Salat Tunjina seven times a day, up to forty times a day.

Husband has friendships with women

Question:

My husband has and still does have friendships with women since we married 18 years ago. The friendships are causing problems with our marriage as I do not trust him or the women he is friends with. Some of the women are Muslim, however they appear to disregard this and continue disrespecting me by keeping in touch with my husband.

Does Islam permit male and female friendships? What should I do to stop the jealousy and resentment I feel towards my husband. May Allah forgive my weakness.

Answer:

Male and female friendship and the idea of non-Mahram guys and girls mingling together as “friends” is not endorsed by our faith. Your husband should know this and act accordingly and all of your jealousy will stop, insha-Allah.

What to do?

Question:

Asc Wr Wb dear brother/sister

I’m a young female 23 years old, I lost my mother recently. Now I’m looking after 3 siblings, 14yr old , 15yr old & 18yr old. This guy and I want to get married. He went to his family and told them that he wants to get married to me, but they refused, because I’m looking after my siblings.

I really want to settle down with him and complete half of my deen and please my Allah SWT and my profet Mohammed SAW, by doing a Halal marriage.

Please help me. What should I do???

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Let your fiancee’s parents know that believers are protectors of one another. We should all strive to help orphans and widows. This is what Allah said:

And they feed, for the love of Allah, the poor, the orphan, and the captive. (Surah al-Insaan, 8 )

And this is what the Messenger of Allah (s) said:

The one who cares for widows and the poor is like those who fight in the way of Allah or those who spend their days fasting and their nights praying. (Agreed upon, also in Adab al-Mufrad of Imaam Al-Bukhari in chapter, “The Virtue of Those Who Care for Orphans”)

Lazy husband and father

Question:

My husband is religious and provides basic necessities at home which he regards as sufficient. I work too and help support myself, our 3 teenage daughters. He was never involved in disciplining the girls, never took interest in their studies and told me not to make them wear the veil when they reached puberty because “they will wear themselves when they become adults”. Daughters 1 and 3 are doing well in school but 1 doesn’t veil and is emotionally distant. 3 is a very good child (respectful, obedient, solehah). 2 has tattoos, smokes and keeps bad company. When we found out, he pitied himself “Why is she doing this to us?”. He takes me for granted, makes hurtful remarks, admires other women and hasn’t changed although I’ve spoken to him numerous times. I would like to leave this marriage. Will I be prohibited from entering Jannah if I do so?

Answer:

We don’t recommend you leave your husband as that will further deteriorate the situation in your family. Your daughters need you and your husband to be united more than ever before. If you raise even one daughter to be on the straight path you will get Jannah, but if you leave this marriage you will not accomplish much.

Polygamy Issues

Question:

Assalamu alaykum,

I am my husband’s 2nd wife. He lives in other country with his 1st wife and children and visits me and I visit him. 1st wife is jealous and we have difficult time. My husband cannot support either of us, he is on benefit. He has narcissist tendencies, critical, moody, addiction problem (internet pornography). But he prays and goes to mosque daily, fasts etc but is against sufism. He also opposes us to have child now. I am reaching 40 in year and half, we dont have children together, I have 1 from my previous marriage. I am sad about it.

He is not able to share his time equally and when I talk to him about equality in sharia he does not want to listen. What should I do? I am Mawlanas murida.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

From all what you said, we can conclude that your husband is not to have two wives as he is not able to support properly even his first wife. We suggest that you accept to be divorced by your husband so he can dedicate his time fully to his first wife. In this way you will be also free to find someone who will love you and give you a proper care you deserve.

If the locusts are falling only on you, it can mean that you will recoup some of the income you lost. If no income is lost, then make the Du`a of ” HasbunAllahu wa ni`mal wakeel” at least 300 times.

Dream: Seeing Masjid Nabawi Sharif

Dream:

Assalamu’alaikum,

I dream visiting a place. I saw a pious person with white long beard and white Imamah sitting near a tree and outside the Masjid. I approached him then he saw me, smiled and said with loud voice “Sheikh Nazim!”. I grab and kiss his hand. Some other person told me to go another spot in the same area. Then I came on a terrace on the edge of the hill where I can see the surrounding area. I saw Masjid Nabawi Sharif and the Green Dome. I send Salaam to Prophet saw and ask him forgiveness for not being a good Servant but will try my best to be a good one. After that I came back to the person with white long beard. Then we all sit and listen to one of his mureeds giving sohbet. Some of us left before the sohbet finished.

Interpretation:

a`udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem:

wa `alaykum salam,
This dream can mean that you wish to be like that man sitting under the tree, to follow Shaykh Nazim’s teachings, but your nafs is giving you a hard time. The site of the Masjid an-Nabawee is a good sign that you will succeed.

And Allah knows best.
