Marriage between a Sufi and Salafi

Question:

assalamualaikum,

Am a Muslim woman following the Sufi path and got married to a Salafi. The man made me believe he was a Sunni before marriage and after marriage I found out he follows Salafi path.We have many clash of ideas and sometimes I ask myself whether there is any baraqah in our marriage. I wanted to know if it is permissible for us Sufis to stay with
Salafis in wedlock, or its not allowed and what should I do now? Fortunately we don’t have any children yet. Thanks.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

You said the answer, “fortunately you don’t have a child.” We are not going to put our opinion, but we will tell you that you will clash all your life about Salafi vs. Sufi until one follows the other, and I don’t believe with his `aqidah he will follow other than that. He might push you to follow the Salafi way and be careful. And I won’t say the marriage is not correct but it is up to your opinion.

Tired of Dog Pooping & Peeing in the house

Queston:

Assalamu Alaikum Imam,

Can you please give me your advice?  I will try to make this short.

We adopted a pure-bred Chow Chow puppy from a breeder 3 years ago.  (We had a Chow dog before who was perfectly behaved.  He died of old age.)

This dog after 3 years has not learned potty training.  When he feels he’s not getting enough attention, he is going to the bathroom in my house. :(  He has ruined our carpets.  We’ve tried different things to get him to stop and it’s not working.  We decided we have to get rid of him.

The problem is-  Chows are special dogs that need special owners that understand their temperament.  They are “one person” dogs and can also have a mean streak.  My dog [private] is very attached to me.  He has been good with other people and other animals while we’ve had him but unfortunately, last year when he was very frightened at the vet …. my brother in law was trying to pick him up to put him on the scale to be weighed … and he bit him in the face.  The dog actually loved my brother in law- but it was out of fear.

Well, once a dog has bitten someone for any reason, the experts say he should be euthanized and not given to another family.  Not only is their potential for him to bite someone else — we can get sued and financially ruined if he does bit anyone.

So Imam, is my best moral choice/obligation to euthanize my dog? :( :(  This is so hard for me.  But I want to do what is right and what Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) would do!

Thank you for your advice.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

It is not haram to own a dog, though it is not hygienic and because of that not permissible to keep a dog in the house as a pet. If there is absolutely no chance of an animal recovering, then euthanasia is permitted.

Holding Hands or Keeping wudhu?

Question:

Assalamualaikum,

For wedded couples, especially so for newly-weds, maintaining a good physical contact such as holding hands is one of the new ways to show signs of love.

However, I also learnt that it is always best to be keeping your wudhu at all times. Is there a middle-ground for this situation? Or one of the actions would top up the other?

Thank you so much. May Allah bless you. I love you Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, Shaykh Hisham, Shaykh Adnan and all!

Answer:

wa `alaykum salaam,

For unwed couples, they are not allowed to hold hands at all unless they want to make sin, so it is up to them. But for your case, you are allowed as you are married. And if you have wudu and hold hands, you will be rewarded and raised in hasanat, as holding the hands of your husband/wife is considered `ibadah, worship, so it is not a problem. Then after you finish going where you are going, you can renew your wudu. However, you have to be careful. If anything drips, then you know what you have to do.

Dream: Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Dream:

In the name of Allah most beneficent most merciful.
Bismillah arrahmani rahim alhabuliha ar- rabi alamin.

I have dream the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and i was dreaming him in a white garment and his head was covered and half of cheek covered but you could see him i would not tell you HOW he looks or never will i draw him because i have no right to do so. Fist of all he was sorrounded by light and he was telling me something , his right side was facing me but I ask him something dont remember . i also had another dream about good muslim women covered in black garment and covered hair, NO EVIDENCE OF SHOWING HAIR OF THE WOMEN , WOMEN WITH THEIR HUSBAND AND CHILDREN ENJOYING GOOD DAY.

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salaam,

Seeing the Prophet (s) in a dream means you will be relieved from seven difficulties in dunya and in akhirah. Also, Imam Suyuti (r) said that if you see the Prophet (s) in your dream, you will see him in reality before you leave dunya! And if he is not happy with you, you will not see him, which means it is an honor that you have seen him.

wallahu `alam,

Dream: Roses

Dream:

Salaam
I am a sister and unmarried. Today in my dream, i saw i was in a house and looking out the window. there was a tree and 2 pink (very light pink almost white) roses were laying on the ground below the tree. I wanted my brother to go get me those roses but I saw some unknown woman is also picking flowers from the tree and giving to a little girl. Then i think that tree doesn’t belong to me so I shouldn’t get those roses. so i move away from the window then I am hanging my niqab (black colored) 4 of them on a stick and on the back I put a sort of green ribbon on the stick where the niqabs are hanging. Please interpret this dream for me. JazakAllah

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salaam,

That tree is the tree of forbidden fruits. Alhamdulillah you didn’t take anything from it, which means you are saved from all 800 forbidden actions. Seeing niqab in the dream means that Allah (swt) is protecting you from four difficulties which you might encounter in your life. So keep your belief strong in Allah (swt), in the Prophet (s), and in awliya. Recite “Yaa Allah,” “Yaa Wadood,” and “Yaa Hafizh” 100 times each.
