Why are Haqqanis fighting?

Question:

salam u alaykum,
i love mawlana shaykh nazim and i want(ED) to be his mureed, may ALLAH protect him. in fact it has been two years since when i really consider him my Shaykh, but what i have seen about Haqqanis disturbs me very much.. why are the khulafa fighting? some people are blaming mawlana shaykh Hisham for things, others are saying “we are the real representatives of mawlana shaykh nazim”, and all? what is this…

on sme sites u c sme of his deputies say that imam mahdi is son of hasan askari… and then on this site, other students of mawlana say that mawlana dsnt beleive this…1) who is real rep. of mawlana? 2) why is all this fighting?

Answer:

wa ‘alaykum salam,

Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani has clearly appointed three as his representatives, capable of giving irshad:

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, Shaykh Adnan Kabbani, Shaykh Muhammad Adil.

Others are assigned to lead dhikr, give baya` and relate Mawlana Shaykh’s teachings in their local areas. They are not authorized to give irshad, spiritual guidance.

The “fighting” you speak of is a reflection of the intense love each representative feels towards our master; it is not symptomatic of destructive fitna, though at times it may appear so.  Keep in mind the letter Shaykh Hisham Kabbani and Shaykh Adnan Kabbani jointly authored last year, where they said:

We want to remind everyone and stress that we are one. We are brothers in tariqah and by blood. We are like two hands, one cannot clap without the other.

As we said awliya use tests. And this test was a means to evaluate everyone’s love to Shaykh Adnan and Shaykh Hisham. All that has been said on different forums, blogs, Facebook sites and other websites were put there only a means of testing the mureeds. Now that the test has ended we must remind mureeds of Mawlana Shaykh that there is no conflict between us, Shaykh Adnan and Shaykh Hisham. We also wish to say that there is no way that anyone can separate us, Shaykh Adnan and Shaykh Hisham. We are always one face, one body, one person, one spirit and one soul.

Better Time Management

Question:

Salam aleikum,

I wanted to ask how to allot time better. I study Arabic in Damascus. I am working and I am doing sports. But I don’t know how to use my little time for my studies. I don’t have a schedule and I have problems to set and to stay on a schedule. I feel I will fail the exams. I also have problems with my concentration when I am sitting in the classroom or when I want to learn at home. A third problem is that I don’t know how to control my using of the internet. I use a big part of my LITTLE free time I should use to learn for my studies in the internet. I have too much distraction and I get so easy and fast distracted! Please pray for me and for my non-Muslim relatives. May ALLAH guide him to Islam! Wassalam

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

You seem to have identified the problem, now you just need to develop the discipline to overcome your weaknesses. Try using time just after the prayers as enforced study times and move from there. You will be pleased at the results of even a small amount of self-discipline, insha-Allah. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani always says la nizam bidun nazim, “there is no order without an ‘arranger'”.

Question about Naqshbandi Adab

Question:

Assalamu Alaykum:

What are the specific benefits of reciting the Naqshbandi Adab? How does it compare
in importance to the Dhikr?

Thank you.

Wasalam

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Each has its importance and place. The personal liturgy (wird/adab) is essential for personal progress and Divine support with the baraka of our mashaykh. Similarly, the weekly congregational Khatm is essential for the progress of the community as a whole and you as one of its members. You could take the 5 daily obligatory prayers, and the communal obligatory Jumu`ah prayers as similes. And Allah knows best.

See “Realities of the Awrad” where some specific benefits of the individual Adab are mentioned.

Counseling Advice

Question:

Asalamalaykum

I’ve decided to explore some deep and difficult personal issues using a counselor / psychotherapist. Whilst the therapist agency is faith based (Christian) they use standard Western person-centered techniques. Is this alright and is there any spiritual advice for supplementing the therapy?

Thank you

Salat Friday Jum’ah

Question:

Assalamualaikum shaykh,

Is on Friday is the Friday prayer replace dhuhur prayer or we do Friday and dhuhur prayer too? because some people who embrace one another tariqah understand Friday and prayers dhuhur well. with the proposition “O ye who believe, if called upon to perform the prayers on Friday, then you made haste to remember Allah and leave your trading. That is better for you if you knew.(QS.Al jumu’a 9)” means according to people’s prayers tariqah followers not replace dhuhur Friday, so they do Friday prayer and dhuhur prayer too in Friday. I do Friday prayers only and not dhuhur in Friday, because my argument is “Where prayer has been accomplished, then you are lying on the earth and seek God’s bounty and remember Allah much, much luck to you.(QS.Al jumu’a 10)”. and is “praying” to QS.Al jumu’a 10 that I think is the Friday prayers.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Please refer to the previous post Jummah Prayers.

Prayer Request:Peoples Attitudes

Request:

Asalam ulakum,

I have recently come across sisters following the same tariqah in the town I live in [private]. I have been invited by a sister to come to the weekly zikr.

I am concerned and very upset as I find the girls following the tariqah to be highly rude, impolite and unfriendly. They do not smile when I smile and do not make me feel welcome. They act like they are superior to the newcomers.

I do not wish to go anymore and wish to just practice in my own home. Why is recommended to meet every week?

Islam teaches us to respect each and everyone no matter their religion, cast or race. I feel like a student who does not want to go to class as the teacher is horrible. How would a child learn if the teacher is always making the child feel upset and uncomfortable?

Response:

wa `alaykum salam,

Ask Allah to bless you in your connection to this blessed holy Sufi path, despite the obstacles of ego and bad character, for we are all patients of the Doctor. Ask Allah grant that you find a sister with whom you can connect and relate. Also, be careful of generalization, as you may write off someone who, in reality, doesn’t possess the negative traits you feel among the majority. After, as the Prophet (s) said, “Al-mumin mirraat akheehi – the believer is mirror of the believer.” So what you see may be a reflection of something in your own character you find distasteful.

and Allah knows best.
