Imam Ahmed views on Allah’s physicality

Question:

Assalamu Alaykum,

Respected Shaykh,

I read the following regarding Imam Ahmed (Rahimahullah), written by a Sunni scholar:

“But, know that the belief that Allah has direction is also attributed to Imam Ahmad, and Sunnis accommodate him as one of their own. Imam  al-Ghazali points out this issue in his Qanun al-Ta’wil about Ahmad, and further highlights that Sunnis accommodated this view, though it  is unpopular. Furthermore, mainstream Sunnis are of the view that it  is permissible for believers to believe in the outward meanings of the verses of the Qur’an as relate to Allah as long as they do not anthropomorphize Him. Ibn Khaldun states this, while presenting the hadith of the slave girl as a proof of this acceptance. ”

http://www.lamppostproductions.com/is-it-valid-to-follow-the-salafi-madhhab/

and also read that Hafiz Ibn Taymiyyah used statements attributed to Imam Ahmed to support the position that Allah Ta’ala has directional limits and therefore a size:

http://taymiyyun.wordpress.com/2014/05/17/ibn-taymiyya-affirms-limits-for-allah-in-the-six-physical-directions/

My question is, are these statements authentically traced back to Imam Ahmed (Rahimahullah)? What were his views, and why do those who attribute direction and physical size to Allah Ta’ala use his name in support of their beliefs?

JazakAllahu Khairun

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

To my knowledge no such position is attributed to Imam Ahmad in Ghazali’s Qanun al-Ta’wil.

As for Ibn Taymiyya’s attribution, it is inauthentic as I showed in my translation of Ibn Jahbal’s refutation of him. It is well-known that Imam Ahmad literally said Allah has no hadd like the rest of Ahl al-Sunna.

Wassalam.

Dream: Dream about Sayyidana Mahdi’s identity and MSH

Dream:

First dream I was in a remote place like Mawlana Shaykh Hisham farm.  I was sitting with some mureeds of MSN and was wondering about Sayyidana Mahdis identity. Then they looked at me incredulously saying “Dont you know Sayyidana Mahdi identity?”. I said: “No, of course I don’t … who is he then?” They told me that everyone knows that he is MSH like I was the only one not knowing! Second dream, I was sitting near to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s feet. I had a feeling that we were very close of the coming out of Sayyidana Mahdi and that everything was going to be unveiled.  Mawlana Shaykh Hisham was also sitting we us. MSN said in a powerful manner pointing to MSH that he was Sayyidana Mahdi I felt that it was so true in my body bringing tears to my eyes and certainty to my heart. Please advise

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam,

In-sha-Allah it means that Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani is the one to support Sayyidina al-Mahdi (as) and to prepare human beings for his appearance, which is soon, in-sha-Allah and Allah knows best.

As salaam alaikum,

Prophet (saws) said, “People will be gathered with whom they love.”

If your heart has a certain target, it may be tested but will reach its goal which is the Golden Chain of the Naqshbandi Order. Seek the Meded of Qutub al-Mutassarif and do your best for people in Allah’s way.

Prayer Request: Need Help and Advice

Request:

I humbly request dua from MSN and MSH. I am at a desperate point in my life. Since childhood had dreams of becoming a doctor, however, my grades are not sufficient to get into medical school. Very seriously depressed about this, contemplated suicide several times. I would like to transition to something else, but I have no idea what to do. The worst part is that I have hurt my parents a lot with my actions, and it is for this reason I feel suicidal. My parents had high expectations for me.

Is there any adkhar I can do for my situation? If it is in divine will that I will not be successful, can I make dua to get cancer or to die? I can’t stand to hurt my parents any longer. Jazakullahu khair for website and may Allah bless you all.

As Salaam alaikum,

May Allah lift your distress and increase your hope and happiness. Inshallah you may read and take these verses to heart and soul:

Allah says, “Say, O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (39:53)

and

And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful. (4:64)

Success is not only what dunya people define with degrees and titles. Know that you were created with a purpose. Focus on your own healing physically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. Try to get you mind and heart clear with tahlil La ilaha illaAllah and Salawat. Seek the intercession of Prophet (saws) for you life, relationships and success. Meditate and be receptive to Allah and His Prophet’s (saws) Love and Pleasure. Perhaps you will find another means towards being a doctor such as naturopath or holisitic health, which is what Mawlana Shaykh Nazim taught and practiced.

Wallahu Alam,

Dreaming of Jannat ul Baqi graves

Dream:

I saw a dream of Roza mubarak (saww) and a graveyard (jannat-ul-baqi) adjacent to it. There are many graves that I can see, and perhaps it was night time there. Then, I was able to see water around those graves. Then I can see that a grave is opened and inside it a little girl is laying and she is alive. She has a scarf on her head. I am helping her to tie that scarf on her head correctly. Please let me know what is the meaning of this dream?

Interpretation:

Walaikumas Salam wa Rahmatullah
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

Masha Allah. Seeing Rawda Mubarak means immense good tiding and support for you in dunya and Akhirah, and Allah knows what kind of good tidings. Water around the graves means the people in that graves are having happy life in the grave. This is to let you know that people buried in Jannatu ‘l-Baqi are of high spiritual status and have been forgiven and are like innocent small children. They will receive the intercession of the Holy Prophet (sallal lahu alaihis salam) and are waived from punishment of the grave. Helping her tie the scarf means your help in the matters of this deen-ul-Islam will be accepted and you are instructed to help those who are lovers of the Holy Prophet (sallal lahu alaihis salam).

Dreams interpretation

Dream:

As salamun alaykum waramatullahi wabarakatuhu. May Allah continue to shower His everlasting blessings on you as we benefit immensely from your knowledge and spiritual guidance.
Please, I had a dream i saw that I was in Makkah and some pilgrims were trying to change money from me. One old woman brought a half burnt money which i refused. She later brought out something like a card with writings in green ink which look like a card that can be exchanged for money with a signature of the secretary for pilgrimage affairs. Please what are the meaning of these dreams as I am totally confused.
Jazakumullahu khayran.

Interpretation:

Walaikumas Salam wa Rahmatullah
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

Masha Allah. Glad tidings. Insha Allah you will visit Makka Shareef soon for pilgrimage. Make intention please.

This dream has many meanings. Makka Shareef symbolizes Islam or your spiritual guide (Murshed, Shaykh, Awlia Allah). This dream is educating you of a very important adab that is needed for you when you come in the presence of a Murshed, Awlia-Allah. This adab is essential to practice Islam. That is to refrain from vain talks of dunya that we do and become heedless. Old woman means dunya and burnt money means dirty vain talk. In this world vain talk and backbiting will always approach us, but we need to stay away from it. Since you refused the burnt money from the old lady, it means you will also in awake state refuse to engage in such activities.

Green means submission to Allah Subhanahu ta’la and ink means high rank and authority. The same old woman who gave you burnt money later giving you card in green ink means if you submit your dunya in the way of Allah for the sake of Allah alone, then you will achieve high rank in the Divine Presence of Allah Subhanahu Tala.

Dream: chaperoned meeting

Dream:

Asalamu alaykum,
I had a dream that I am with my brother and my friends two cousins in a car. They are chaperones for me and the older cousin, I’m talking to the younger cousin and asking questions. My brother and I go to clean these ladies houses and we are taking out rubbish.

We return to the mall, I walk out to the food/prayer area and I notice a lot of men so I walk back. I notice the older cousin trying to see my face so I walk fast and sit beside his brother in law. I start playing with his lil boys knowing that he can see me.

Interpretation:

Walaikumas Salam wa Rahmatullah
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

This dream indicates your thoughts are scattered. Keep your five prayers and recite:

Auzu billahi minash Shaitanir Rajeem 40x per day
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem 100X per day
La hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil aliyyil azim 100x per day

Please pray for Hajj Kemal Koksal…

Request:

As-salaamu `alaykum,

Please make dua for my father’s uncle, Hajj Kemal Köksal (age 93), who passed away yesterday (4 Rajab 1435/3 May 2014) in Ankara, Turkey.

He was a Hafiz al-Quran and a Naqshbandi Khalidi, a follower of H.E. Shaykh Mahmud Ustaosmanoglu (q), whom he accompanied for 15 years before going to France to teach Hifz al-Qur’an to others. He made Hajj seven times and had tremendous love and respect for Sultan al-Awliya, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q), may Allah grant him long life.

Response:

Walaikum assalam,

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilahi Rajioon.

May Allah (swt) grant him the highest paradise inshaAllah.
