Prayer Request: Financial difficulties, no income and lots of debt

Request:

I am jobless for almost 2 years and it seems no one is interested in me any more. All doors are shut. I have a family of 5 to support and with no income and lots of debt I am in a miserable situation.

Please request Shaykh Nazim to pray for me as I think I need a bigger intervention and prayer to get out of this situation.

Response:

Allah will provide. Keep looking and trust in Allah with niyyat and shukr. Recite Ya Razzaq, Ya Karim daily.

Dream: Sultan and protected by a giant cat

Dream:

Assalammualaikum Shaykh Hisham,

My husband had a dream of us been to a Sultan’s palace and sat on the throne. We got a special treatment by the king/sultan. There was a giant snake with two legs. Everyone was scared of the snake, but it came to me to salam and gave respect. There was also a giant cat like a lion protecting me. I want to know the meaning of the dream. This is not the first time my husband had a dream of me and giant cat.

Interpretation:

Alaykum Salam,

Alhamdulillah Sultan points to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (Allah bless his secret) and giant harms are neutralized thanks to your connection to him. Renew your bayaa to him and let your love grow also for Mawlana Shaykh Hisham.

Ibn Ata’Allah’s Hikam

Question:

Salams ,

I’ve just got a couple of questions about the hikmas.

In chapter 6:

Let no sin reach such proportions in your eyes that it cuts you off from having a good opinion of God… I was just wondering how a sin would lead to this?

And: (same chapter): There is no minor sin when His justice confronts you…. (I dont understand this).

And same chapter again: No deed is more fruitful for the heart than the one you are not aware of and which is deemed paltry by you —What would an example of this be?

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

They are all based on Ayat and hadith and we advise that you read it with a teacher. First is prohibition of despair, 2nd prohibition of overconfidence, and 3rd is a small good deed which is completely devoid of riya‘ and is thus turned into a great one.

Way forward

Question:

Salam alaykum Shaykh.

Its been over 40 days of reciting the thikr Shaykh Gibril Haddad advised me to recite. My ex husband still does not come forward and I’ve requested him to reconcile. I feel that all avenues to reconciling were not explored when he gave talaaq and I believe we can work it out but he says he is uncomfortable with me and does not want to come back. He provides every excuse not to come back and when I ask whether he believes the relationship is beyond reconciliation, he does not answer that question. Please advise a way forward for me and my little baby.

Jazakallah

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Repeat for 40 more days and 40 more again if necessary. Recite x1000 Astaghfirullah daily. Ask without self-excuse nor making demands. Allah will provide for the broken-hearted. If no result it means moving on is best for you.

“Is Allah dependent on men to defend his Prophet?”

Question:

Non-Muslims, and even some people who claim to be Muslims, say that blasphemous insults directed towards the Prophet of Islam (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) such as those contained in the “Innocence of Muslims” movie should be completely ignored by Muslims and not be used to argue for restricting freedom of speech and banning people’s right to satirize and mock religion, which they say is a necessary quality of modern, civilized society. Moreover, they say that such ridicule does not harm the Prophet the least and that those who believe in God Almighty also need to believe that God can guard His Prophet’s honor better than any man. For these reasons, Muslims should temper themselves. They ask: “Why is Allah dependent on men to defend the honor of his Prophet?”, “What good does it do to Islam and Muslims to execute blasphemers?” How do we respond?

Answer:

Allah Almighty is Guarantor of the safety and dignity of Prophet Muhammad (s) and all that He reveals to him (s) including the Qur’an, where He says {Verily We indeed have revealed the Remembrance (Qur’an) and surely are We its Guardian} (al-Hijr 15:9).

Where it concerns us in this matter is our responsibility to uphold truth from error, or being just to the faith in, and the love we have for, Allah Almighty and His Messenger (s) Allah Almighty says:

{O you who believe! stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not your low desires, lest you deviate, and if you distort or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do.} (An-Nisa 4:135)

If you love someone you do not want that person to be harmed, ridiculed, insulted or subject to mockery. You defend that person from fitnah because you know falsehood has been thrown at him. You protect that person from harm because you cannot bear to see him hurt. See how the Companions defended the Prophet (s) when he fell in Uhud, each of them surrounding him from the unbelievers swords, even getting hurt or martyred. That didn’t matter to them, for their blood spilled is better than to see their beloved inflicted with the slightest of harm. They did this with the utmost love and faith, demonstrating the Prophet’s (s) saying, “None of you believes until he loves me more than he loves his children, his parents, and all people.” In another hadith in Bukhari he said: “None of you believes until he loves me more than he loves himself.”

On the other hand, we should not use incidents which have taken place disrespecting Sayyidina Muhammad (s) to excuse ourselves to disobey the law of the land in which we live or instigating fitna in response. Rather we must use the many means available to defend the Prophet’s (s) honor in a lawful, solemn, dignified and honorable manner.

Etiquettes of sex

Question:

Assalamu alaikum,

Please may I ask the Hanafi ruling:

1) My wife rarely reaches complete satisfaction. We found that if she touches her own private areas during sex whilst I share a fantasy story she sometimes is satisfied. Provided we only do such an action with us both present and this is the only way she has reached an orgasm thus far, what is the ruling on this?

2) Do bed sheets that have filth on them have to be changed after sex to be pure? If the filth dries up or one sleeps on the area with no filth after ghusl, is one pure and able to pray? Are the bed sheets pure after the drying up of filth?

3) If one’s clothes do not have any filth on them after sex, are they pure? Can a person pray in these after ghusl?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

1. The Qur’an and Sunnah are silent on this issue. Therefore, one cannot rule it as ‘haram‘.

2. It would suffice if you could wash the places where the semen has fallen, and be available even for prayer. If the semen has dried, there is no harm in removing the semen with the nails.

3. If one’s clothes do not have any filth (najasah) on them after sex, they are pure and one can pray in them.

The Aqida of Ibn al-Mubarak

Question:

Assalamu `alaykum sheikh Gibril,

What is an acceptable interpretation of the statement of Abdullah Ibn al-Mubarak related by Uthman al-Darimi in his refutation of al-Marisi:

روى إسحاق بن إبراهيم الحنظلي عن ابن المبارك أنه قال رأس المنارة أقرب إلى الله من أسفله

Ishaq bin Ibraheem Al-Handhali narrated that Ibn Al-Mubarak said: The top of the minaret is closer to Allah than it’s bottom.

http://islamport.com/d/1/aqd/1/327/1572.html

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Ishaq b. Rahuyah and Ibn al-Mubarak were great Imams and they both knew very well that the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) said the closest the servant is to his Lord is in sujud (Bukhari and Muslim). Therefore, either this statement was never said or it is interpreted figuratively, e.g. minara to mean the human body and the top meaning the mind. Furthermore, it is known that ‘Uthman al-Darimi’s book is problematic and, finally, as Imam Ahmad said: “Ibn al-Mubarak did not descend from heaven.”
