Question about Naqshbandi Adab

Question:

Assalamu Alaykum:

What are the specific benefits of reciting the Naqshbandi Adab? How does it compare
in importance to the Dhikr?

Thank you.

Wasalam

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Each has its importance and place. The personal liturgy (wird/adab) is essential for personal progress and Divine support with the baraka of our mashaykh. Similarly, the weekly congregational Khatm is essential for the progress of the community as a whole and you as one of its members. You could take the 5 daily obligatory prayers, and the communal obligatory Jumu`ah prayers as similes. And Allah knows best.

See “Realities of the Awrad” where some specific benefits of the individual Adab are mentioned.

Counseling Advice

Question:

Asalamalaykum

I’ve decided to explore some deep and difficult personal issues using a counselor / psychotherapist. Whilst the therapist agency is faith based (Christian) they use standard Western person-centered techniques. Is this alright and is there any spiritual advice for supplementing the therapy?

Thank you

Salat Friday Jum’ah

Question:

Assalamualaikum shaykh,

Is on Friday is the Friday prayer replace dhuhur prayer or we do Friday and dhuhur prayer too? because some people who embrace one another tariqah understand Friday and prayers dhuhur well. with the proposition “O ye who believe, if called upon to perform the prayers on Friday, then you made haste to remember Allah and leave your trading. That is better for you if you knew.(QS.Al jumu’a 9)” means according to people’s prayers tariqah followers not replace dhuhur Friday, so they do Friday prayer and dhuhur prayer too in Friday. I do Friday prayers only and not dhuhur in Friday, because my argument is “Where prayer has been accomplished, then you are lying on the earth and seek God’s bounty and remember Allah much, much luck to you.(QS.Al jumu’a 10)”. and is “praying” to QS.Al jumu’a 10 that I think is the Friday prayers.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Please refer to the previous post Jummah Prayers.

Interpretation:

a`udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem:

wa `alaykum salam,

Your burdens are being carried by one of Allah’s hidden servants, allowing you to reach places you would not otherwise be able to. Reciting that verse of punishment in this life will protect you from it in akhira and allow you to receive the mercy in the following verse.

And Allah knows best.

Prayer Request:Peoples Attitudes

Request:

Asalam ulakum,

I have recently come across sisters following the same tariqah in the town I live in [private]. I have been invited by a sister to come to the weekly zikr.

I am concerned and very upset as I find the girls following the tariqah to be highly rude, impolite and unfriendly. They do not smile when I smile and do not make me feel welcome. They act like they are superior to the newcomers.

I do not wish to go anymore and wish to just practice in my own home. Why is recommended to meet every week?

Islam teaches us to respect each and everyone no matter their religion, cast or race. I feel like a student who does not want to go to class as the teacher is horrible. How would a child learn if the teacher is always making the child feel upset and uncomfortable?

Response:

wa `alaykum salam,

Ask Allah to bless you in your connection to this blessed holy Sufi path, despite the obstacles of ego and bad character, for we are all patients of the Doctor. Ask Allah grant that you find a sister with whom you can connect and relate. Also, be careful of generalization, as you may write off someone who, in reality, doesn’t possess the negative traits you feel among the majority. After, as the Prophet (s) said, “Al-mumin mirraat akheehi – the believer is mirror of the believer.” So what you see may be a reflection of something in your own character you find distasteful.

and Allah knows best.

Weak Memory

Question:

Assalamoualaikoum,

May ALLAH bless Eshaykh members and continues to bestow His Mercy upon all Muslims. I am currently working in a Warehousing company. I have a weak memory. The problem is I forget a lot and I take wrong decisions. I try my level best to do my job but unfortunately my superiors are not happy with me. I had gone to hospital but the doctor said my results were normal. The latter prescribed me some medicines with little improvements. Please Can Sheikh Hisham personally advise me what to do and also can You tell me ways in order to benefit from Sheikh nazim?
JAZAKALLAH

Answer:

a`udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem:

wa `alaykum salam,

Using the miswak, reading Surat al-Mulk, and avoiding disobedience to
Allah (swt) are all helpful for the memory. Also keep wudu to lessen
the distracting waswas of shaytan. Continue your medical evaluation
with a qualified practitioner.

Hostility between Ayesha (ra) and Ali (ra)

Question:

1. Is it true that Ayesha (raa) lead a war against Ali (raa) in which thousands upon thousands of Muslims had died?
2. Is it true that on her way to war, Ayesha (raa) heard that howling of dogs which was an omen described by Rasul (saw) when he was alive, but she kept on going whilst knowing the howling was a bad sign?
3. Is it true that Ayesha (raa) and her father denied Fatima (raa) and Ali (raa) Rasul’s (saw) property after his death?
4. Is it true that Ayesha (raa) expressed regret over having done all this whilst on her death bed?

Answer:

What are your intentions in posting such questions? Know full well that followers of Ahl as-Sunnah wa ‘l-Jama`ah never open such divisive issues regarding the Wives and Companions of the Prophet (s). These are signs of sectarianism.

Loving the Sahaba arises from loving our Master, the Prophet (s). Enmity against them means enmity against him.

If that is for the Prophet’s Companions, what then do you think about the Family of the Prophet (s) and the Lady whom Allah swt Himself absolved of blame in the Ifk incident?

Our Prophet (s) declared: “Avoid speaking ill of my Sahaba!”

Sayyidina `Ali (r) declared in these combats, “Our brethren have parted from us. They are not disbelievers, nor sinners. For, they have been acting in accordance with their ijtihad. ”

As Ahl as-Sunnah wa ‘l-Jama`ah, that applies to each and everyone, from the “least” to the greatest, without distinction, for as Shaykh Gibril said, “the hair of any one of them is better than any number of us, except the awliyaullah.”

For the answer, see the Post: “About Fadac” and what Imam Rabbani Mujaddid alf ath-thani Ahmad Sirhindi said about these incidents.
