Dream: Become a Scholar

Dream:

AsSalamOAlaikum Sheikh,

I hope you are well, InshaAllah. I saw a dream a few nights ago where I met an Arab prince. Had a long, clean, balanced face, w/handsome features. He said to me: become a scholar. The scene changes: we seem to be in a house made from mud. It seems there is a water running down the streets. He takes mud, makes shoes, throws them out the window onto the street, jumps into the shoes and starts running uphill. The beginning and ending parts of the dream are hazy and I cannot remember them well.

If the message is to become a scholar, then I feel inadequate to attempt this task. I feel I do not have the patience or the mental capacity, or the sincerity for it. Please explain.

JazakAllahKhair.

W’Salam

Interpretation:

Bismi’llahi’r’Rahmani’r’Raheem.

wa `alaykum salam,
This is a change of career and to be a scholar is not one of them.

And Allah knows best.

What happens when Prayers are Missed?

Question:

salam alaykoum,

I want to know what happens if one does not pray? and what happens if one does pray but accidentally misses a prayer, does it mean that the person has to make it up, if so what are the procedures? What if you work in an environment that does not provide any room or privacy to pray in, is it okay to pray the missed prayer at home? Please enlighten me because this issue is on mind.

jazakkalahu kairan

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

To intentionally miss a regular daily prayer is not an option in Islam. But, if one accidentally missed one’s prayer through sleep, forgetfulness, or being prevented, one should pray it as soon as one wakes up or remembers it. One will need to make up the  fard portion of a prayer missed (at the appointed time) as soon as possible.

Dream: Home Schooling Daughter

Dream:

Audhubillahimina shaytanirRajeem,BismillahirRahmanirRahim,

I dreamt that I,my husband&our daughter went to see Mawlana Shaykh Hisham(MSH)at the event in London Forest  Gate. I felt isolated with the sisters. MSH spoke about love but I felt heavy in isolation & prayed his words would reach the people. Afterwards MSH stood to leave & my heart longed to be near him. He was wearing a white fur lining jubbah & as I approached his jubbah glowed. I wanted to immerse myself within his clothing & be near him. I asked his permission to home-school my daughter&i think he said”its ok.” I met my husband & we saw MSH eating alone but phoning with his family. Afterwards he came to us & I asked him to bless my daughter who is 2 years  & he looked very seriously at her & said ‘she has a lot of anger, wooh, she has a lot of anger’. We were very surprised as our daughter was smiling & very calm. In reality we couldn’t go to the London event. Insha’Allah, do we have permission to home-school & the meaning about our daughter’s anger?

Interpretation:

Audhubillahiminashaytanirajeem
BismillahirRahmanirRahim
:

About the home schooling ask Mawlana in person when you get the chance. About the dream, he is purifying the childish self within you from anger as you strive to control it.

Wallahu alam.

Spiritual Arkan

Question:

AsSalaamu Alaikkum,

Can I please ask a question that’s puzzling me? This word “Arkan” which apparently means pillar has been coming up in my mind fairly recently. And especially the term “Arkan-ul-Awliyah” in particular.

Could you please let me know what it means? And also if Mawlana have ever mentioned it somewhere cos I’ve never seen or heard about this term being used anywhere. But its just coming up in my mind often recently.

JazakAllahu Khair :)

Answer:

Wa `alaykum as-Salam wa rahmatullah.

I am not familiar with this precise formulation, but it does have meaning.

To begin with, arkan is the plural of rukn. The latter word may indeed be translated as “pillar,” since it refers to that which supports. However, the word “corner” is perhaps more precise, since arkan usually refers to the four supports of a structure. In the archetypal case of the Holy Ka`bah, the corners are called arkan, and the Black Stone was originally called the Rukn. In the structure of the cosmos, the four elements are called arkan; but here it must be observed that there is in fact a “fifth element” from which the other proceed: the “Rukn ul-Arkan.” This last observation relates to the inner significance of the Five Arkan of Islam, as well as to the dhikr of the Throne-Bearing Angels who may also bear the designation Arkan.

Of course, the titles “qutb” and “watad” also relate to structural symbolism, and Shaykh Muhyiddin – may Allah sanctify his secret – specifically relates the duties of the four Awtad to the arkan of the Holy House. Although it is difficult to penetrate the mysterious relationship between these Awtad and the angelic Arkan, it is natural to identify the Awtad as the Arkan of the Saints, perhaps specifically as they relate to the four corners of the Holy House. I believe Mawlana Shaykh Hisham calls them Sayyidina `Abdul-`Alim, Sayyidina `Abdul-Hayy, Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir, and Sayyidina `Abdul-Wahid, may Allah sanctify all their secrets.

And Allah and His Messenger know better.

Hadith of Tree-trunk

Question:

As-Salaam O alikum Shaykh Gibril Haddad,

Regarding the Hadith Narrated by Ibn Umar: The Prophet (saw) used to deliver his sermons while standing beside (or leaning on) a trunk of a Date Palm tree. When he had the pulpit made, he used it (the pulpit) instead (of the Date Palm tree). The trunk (of the tree) started crying/weeping (grieving out of love for the prophet) and the Prophet approached it, rubbing his hand over it (to sooth it and stop its crying/weeping). –Sahih al-Bukhari Volume 4, Book 56, Number 783-

I have been informed when the Prophet (saw) was invited back to His (saw) Lord Allah (swt) the Sahabas (ra) use to kiss this part of the trunk and on seeing this actions Hadrat Umar (ra) chopped this trunk down. Is this statement authentic?
Is this hadith linked to the action of Hadrat Umar (if this statement is authentic)?

Answer:

Alaykum as-Salam,

You are mixing elements from three widely different reports into a single story.

First, the report of the tree-stump in Madina. The moaning of the tree-stump is mass-transmitted and authentic without doubt. However, the tree-stump is no longer mentioned after that and no kissing is narrated in relation to it.

Second, the report of the tree of the bay`a before Hijra and the story that our liegelord `Umar cut it down.

Third, the actual report I believe you mean when you mention kissing:

Ibn Abi Shayba narrates in his Musannaf, in the chapter entitled: “Touching the grave of the Prophet” with a sahih chain according to Ibn Hajar and al-Qadi `Iyad in al-Shifa (in the chapter entitled: “Concerning the visit to the Prophet’s grave, the excellence of those who visit it and how he should be greeted”).

Yazid b. `Abd al-Malik ibn Qusayt and al-`Utbī narrated that it was the practice of the Companions in the mosque of the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) to place their hands on the pommel of the hand rail (rummana) of the pulpit (minbar) where the Prophet used to place his hand. There they would face the Qibla and supplicate to Allah Most High, hoping He would answer their supplication because they were placing their hands where the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) placed his while making their supplication. Abu Mawduda said: “And I saw Yazid b. `Abd al-Malik do the same.”

As for the report of the tree of the bay`a: we need first to understand the context, which is that during his caliphate, our liegelord `Umar (Allah be well-pleased with him) forbade certain actions out of precautionary pre-emption (sadd al-dhara’i`). For example, he forbade our liegelord Anas (Allah be well-pleased with him) from praying towards a grave after seeing him do so; he hit a man for praying while facing another and hit the latter for facing the former through his salat; he forbade Muslims in non-Muslim countries (Azerbaijan at the time) from dressing in the manner of non-Muslims; he forbade the fasting of Rajab lest it be confused with Jahiliyya-time over-veneration of that month. He also forbade praying in churches whether or not they contained statues while Ibn `Abbas prayed in them as long as they did not contain them.

In that context it is narrated that `Umar (Allah be well-pleased with him) cut down a tree claimed to be that under which the bay`a to the Holy Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) had taken place, supposedly lest it be venerated after the fashion of Jahiliyya. This is narrated through the narrators of the Sahihayn by Ibn Abi Shayba in his Musannaf and Ibn Sa`d in his Tabaqat.

However, the fact that this tree was not the actual tree of the bay`a is illustrated by the following evidence:

1. – The tree of the bay`a was not known to the Companions as narrated from Ibn al-Musayyab in al-Bukhari and Muslim.

2. He narrated from his father — one of the early Companions: “We tried to find it more than once and could not.” Al-Hakim cited it in his Ma`rifat `Ulum al-Hadith (Type 7) after stating that it was said the tree had been taken away by a flood.

3. Not even was its exact location known, as narrated from `Abd Allah b. `Umar in al-Bukhari’s Sahih.

4. Ibn Sa`d narrated (with a stronger chain for Sira reports than that of the tree-cutting) from the centenarian superlative historian Abu al-Hasan `Ali b. Muhammad al-Mada’ini [Yahya b.Ma`in described him as thiqa thiqa thiqa! cf. al-Dhahabi, Siyar (9:127)], from Juwayriyya b. Asma’, from Nafi`: “A group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (upon him blessings and peace) went out years after that [the bay`a] but none of them was able to pinpoint the tree and they differed over it. Ibn `Umar said: ‘It [the tree] was a mercy from Allah.'”

5. Ibn `Umar even used to water a certain tree under which the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) had prayed so that it would not die. Narrated by al-Bayhaqi in his Sunan (5:245). If the tree-cutting related from his father were true of the actual tree of the bay`a, he would have desisted from such a concern.

And Allah Most High knows best.

Then she ensures both our children are safe. My wife has had this dream several times now, especially in the early hours of the morning and other times.

My duaa’s and long life for my Murshid Maulana Shykh Nazim Aadil Haqqani & to my Shykh Maulana Hisham Kabbani.

Interpretation:

Bismi’llahi’r’Rahmani’r’Raheem.

The open sea could mean the school system, any public system , or government system…etc. Your wife does not trust these systems so she checks everything they are teaching your sons.

Dream: Lost Bride

Dream:

I am standing outside an auditorium in a bridal gown waiting for my entrance. Right before it’s time to walk in I realize I have forgotten something. I take off back to my room to get it and head back to the wedding site. Only I am lost…I am running thru corridors, hotel lobbys, school parking lots, jumping over stair railings trying to find my way only I can’t…I am lost and I sit there in my dress and cry b/c I have missed my chance!

Interpretation:

InchaAllah if you can make daily 100 Darud (Salawat) on the Prophet (pbuh), your life will change for the better.

Dream: Shaking to Death

Dream:

AsSalamuAlaykum,

My friend had a dream;
‘I’m standing at the top of the staircase with my mum and dad at the bottom, my mum points to the end of the banister, the end is quite smooth as opposed to the top half and this was some sort of sign. I realized something was wrong, my body starts shaking from the inside and parents look at me confused then I stumble and I am on the floor, my body still shaking, but it’s not my body but felt like it was. When I’m on the floor I think I’m about to die. I look into the living room and my brother is on the floor going through the same thing, he tries to comfort me saying “Don’t worry stay with me” then the shaking got worse, I felt like I died.’
Could you please explain the meaning of this dream…
Jazakallah

Interpretation:

Bismi’llahi’r’Rahmani’r’Raheem.

wa `alaykum salam,
Your parents are expecting you to be something great and you are afraid to disappoint them, therefore the shaking appears. It is the same for your brother. Cover your actions always with the Bismi’llahi’r’Rahmani’r’Raheem. That should fix your affairs.

And Allah knows best.

Terrrible Waswas, Please Help!

Question:

S.A,ben çok vesveseleniyorum.

Translation:

Salaamu alaykum. I get a lot of waswas. I was able to get Hajjah Rukiyya and Shaykh Mehmet’s prayer for this, shukrulillah, and I was getting better, however, now I’ve been getting so many waswas (bad thoughts) that I cannot even make dua. Just when I’m about to say “ameen” I get many bad thoughts about awliyaullah, especially about our Shaykh, so I am unable to say “ameen.” What should I do? Should I still say “ameen” despite this? And when waswas comes to me during salaah, when in sajdah, I try to say the “basmala” in my heart. Normally, I try to say the basmala all the time, when these thoughts come, but if I don’t, will I be held responsible? Also, when I make dhikr or recite surahs I get waswas. Is this from my nafs? What should I do? I also worry if I speak my thoughts. I also get waswas regarding Allah (swt). And I try to say what is right, however, I fear if the opposite occurs and then I enter into hopelessness and start having fears about the future. I try as much as I can to not speak out these thoughts, but when they do come out will I be responsible? I’m struggling and making duas. ..I’m asking forgiveness from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and Mawlana Shaykh Hisham and asking for their duas to get shifa inshaaAllah.
