Hadith: Messenger a prophet when Adam was between water and Clay

Question:

Alaykum as-Salam,

Recently i was reading in “Lives of man” by Imam Al Haddad- “It is narrated that the messenger of God was already a prophet when Adam was between water and Clay, Between Spirit and Body, and that he accompanied Adam when he was brought down from garden,Noah when he boarded his ark, Abraham when he was thrown into Nimrod’s fire. He was at this stage most perfect and Complete” (Lives of Man- Alawi Al Haddad. Page no: 7,8) My Question to you is. 1, Do you agree with the above narration?

2, Do we have any supporting verses from the Qur’an for the above narration (statement)? I mean is this narration agree with the Qur’anic depiction of Prophethood of Muhammed (pbuh)?

3, How do you explain prophet muhammed (pbuh) was present when Noah (pbuh) boarded his ship and when Abraham (pbuh) was thrown into Nimrod’s fire.?

Answer:

1) Yes, we agree with it heart and soul. Anyone who knows the standing of Imam `Abd Allah al-Haddad (Allah have mercy on him) can trust what he relates about the Prophet, upon him blessings and peace; furthermore this particular explanation is well-known and related from the Companions (Allah be well-pleased with them).

One time after Imam al-Shafi`i narrated a hadith to a man who asked him about a certain matter the latter said: “Do you also say that?” whereupon al-Shafi`i jumped, his color changed, and he said: “Woe to you! What earth would carry me, what heaven would shade me if I narrated from the Messenger of Allah something but did not agree with it? Yes, I agree with it heart and soul! Yes, I agree with it heart and soul!”

2) First things first. The author said “It is narrated” which means he is referring to a hadith. The hadith of the Prophet being already a prophet when Adam was between spirit and body is sahih and well-known. Another similar sahih hadith states:

“Truly I was [already], in the sight of Allah, the Seal of Prophets, when Adam was still kneaded in his clay. I shall inform you of the meaning (ta’wil) of this. It is the supplication of my father Ibrahim (Q 2:129) and the glad tidings of my brother `Isa to his people (Q 61:6); and the vision my mother saw the night I was delivered: she saw a light that lit the palaces of Syro-Palestine so that she could see them.”

Narrated by Ahmad, Musnad al-Shamiyyin, from al-`Irbad b. Sariya (al-Zayn ed. 13:282 §17086, 13:285 §17098; al-Arna’ut ed. 28:382 §17151, 28:395 §17163), among others.

The Holy Prophet also disclosed a very important and great revelation, namely that his lineage all came down to him through lawful marriage (nikah) and never through fornication (sifah). This is narrated from at least five Companions. The Shafi`i arch-hafiz of hadith Ibn al-Mulaqqin documented all the routes and versions of the latter authentic hadith in his book al-Badr al-Munir as follows:

– “Nothing of the sifah of Jahiliyya ever gave birth to me; only nikah such as the nikah of Islam ever gave birth to me.” Al-Bayhaqi in his Sunan and al-Tabarani in al-Mu`jam al-Kabir from Ibn `Abbas (Allah be well-pleased with him and his father).

– “My two foreparents never met in sifah. Allah Most High transported me from times immemorial (lam yazal Allah yanquluna) from the excellent loins into the pure wombs, singled out and refined (musaffan muhadhdhaban). Never did two branches branch off except I was in the better one of the two.” Abu Nu`aym from Ibn `Abbas through two chains.

– “I came down [through my lineage] out of nikah, never sifah (kharajtu min nikah la min sifah). Allah Most High transported me, etc…” Ibn Sa`d in al-Tabaqat al-Kubra and al-Harith b. Abi Usama in his Musnad from `A’isha (Allah be well-pleased with her).

– “I came down [through my lineage] out of nikah, never sifah, all the way from Adam to the time my father and mother gave birth to me. Never did the sifah of Jahiliyya ever touch me in anything.” Ibn Abi `Umar al-`Adani in his Musnad and al-Ajurri in al-Shari`a from `Ali (Allah be well-pleased with him).

– The same from Abu Hurayra (Allah be well-pleased with him) as narrated by Ibn `Asakir in Tarikh Dimasqh.

– The same from Anas (Allah be well-pleased with him) as narrated by al-Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwa, who added that Ibn al-Kalbi said: “I researched 500 foremothers of the Prophet, and have not found among them any sifah or anything of what the Jahiliyya practiced.”

As for its meaning in the Book of Allah it is found in three verses:

1. {Truly when the waters rose We carried you upon the ship} (69:11): “Meaning during the Flood, that is, your ancestors as you were in their loins, on board the ark of Nuh (upon him peace)” Al-Baydawi, Tafsir Anwar al-Tanzil.

2. {And a token unto them is that We bore their offspring in the laden ship} (36:41), “that is, their ancestors on Nuh’s ship, as the term ‘offspring’ (dhurriyya) is used for forefathers just as it is used for descendants.” Al-Wahidi, Tafsir al-Wasit.

3. {[Your Lord] Who sees you when you stand, and your turning (taqallubak) among those who prostrate themselves} (26:218-219), “meaning your descent through the loins of your ancestors – Adam and Nuh and Ibrahim, until He brought him out as a Prophet.” Narrated from Ibn `Abbas by al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak (2:338), also al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani with a sound chain according to al-Haythami, Majma` al-Zawa’id (7:86 and 8:214); and this is the explanation retained in the Tafsirs of Muqatil, Ibn Abi Hatim, Ibn Mardawayh, al-Baghawi, Abu al-Layth al-Samarqandi, al-Qushayri, al-Tha`labi, Ibn al-Jawzi, al-Razi, al-Qurtubi, Abu Hayyan, al-Khazin, Ibn `Adil al-Hanbali, al-Naysaburi, al-Suyuti, and others.

3) By hearing and believing, the same way as we explain that the souls of all human beings were brought out like ants from the loins of our father Adam and were given the power of speech.

As the Prophet’s paternal uncle al-`Abbas b. `Abd al-Muttalib (Allah be well-pleased with him) said in his famous verses:

<<Before [your translation] you were blessed in the shades [of Paradise] and the repository (Eden) where leaves were used for garments. Then you alighted upon earth, neither a human being nor a piece of flesh nor clot, but as a drop that boarded the Ark when the flood destroyed Nasr and the rest of the idols, transported from loins to wombs in the succession of worlds and centuries.>>

Narrated by al-Hakim, Mustadrak (3:327); Abu Nu`aym, Hilya (1:364); Ibn Kathir, Sira (4:51).

Blessings and peace on the Prophet, his Family, his Companions, and all his sincere followers to the Day of Resurrection.

Dream: A book

Dream:

Assalammualaikum

I had a dream a few months ago. I was coming down an escalator in a mall and at the bottom were some tables and chairs. Mawlana was sat smoking a shisha pipe and be blew out the smoke and smiles and says to me ‘dunya‘. At this point he also asked me if I had read his book called dunya. I have been searching high and low for it but no one seems to know what I am talking about. Is there an external meaning to this?

Thank you very much for your time.

Assalammualaikum

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam,

As our mashaykh are our mirrors, seeing Mawlana smoking a shisha means leave what bad manners you are doing, for the mashaykh see everything and want their murids on the best conduct. Sitting in a mall, speaking of dunya, is again an indication to turn away from it and towards devotion and Divine service.

Dream: Snake

Dream:

Salaam, I had a dream last night where I was in my house in pakistan and i had a horizontal cut which had blood coming out of it on my upper right thigh and a snake came out of it. The snake was black and it had white dots on it and it just slithered out of my leg. And when I woke up I could clearly see the snakes eyes in my mind like it really happened. I just wanted to know what that means?

Interpretation:

a`udhu billah mina ‘sh-shaytani ‘r-rajeem
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem

The snake is showing a hidden enmity within your family that could have caused serious harm.  By Allah’s grace it came out taking its badness with it.  Give thanks for your safety and well being, and try to increase Darud-sharif to keep Allah’s mercy flowing on you and your family.

Prayer Request: Confused about studies

Request:

As-salaamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh ya Syedi

My sister wanted to study medical science but due to some circumstances she couldn’t and started her undergraduate in IT. Now she is about to finish her degree but she is confused whether to continue or study medical and where to study US, UK or pakistan.

Can our beloved Mawlana Shaykh Hisham advise us on this topic and pray for her studies?

salaams and love to Mawlana Shaykh Hisham and Hajjah :)

Response:

wa ‘alaykum salam,

Continue to study IT as it is less headache. Then in that case UK is the better choice.

Dream: alone in ocean

Dream:

Salaam Alaykum,

I was on an inflatable boat with my sister and her daughter. We were all alone on ocean, no body and no land, only water. I moved, my sister told me to be careful : water entered, the boat was unstable, the ocean turned dark color. I told my sister to recite Fatiha, 3x Ikhlas, Al Falaq, An Nas, & Al Kursy. Then I saw a white woman on an island, showing me boats and telling me they will save us. 3 boats : clear color, with black draws on the windows ; no one to be seen, but I knew “they” were there. We managed and “they” came to us to save us.

I tried to give sadaka but it works only with 2$ and I wanted to give more, how to do ?

Thank you for your help, may the Creator bless you all.
F.

Interpretation:

a`udhu billah mina ‘sh-shaytani ‘r-rajeem
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem

And  a sign for them is that We carry their offspring [over the seas] in laden ships} (Yasin 36:41)

Nearly drowning in the dark ocean portends coming difficulties as the Prophet (s) predicted there will be fitnas coming on the world like a dark night.  Your seeking protection through Holy Quran brought an opening for “them” to save you.  The clear vessels indicates the purity of the heart and the black draws are a sign for Mahdi (as).

Dream: Outer Space

Dream:

Assalam alleikum

I had a dream that I was in outer space and I witnessed an explosion like a supernova it was very intense white bright light. Then in a related dream I saw myself relating the story to people using my hands about the explosion and the light that has come down to earth. If I can understand the meaning Allah bless you thank you.

Interpretation:

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem
Allahuma Salli `ala Muhammad

As-salamu `alaykum,

Allah said:

{Soon will We show them our Signs in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that thy Lord doth witness all things?}

Allah gave you a sign that cannot be understood with words, that’s why you had to give hand signals. It is a mercy to you because Mawlana Shaykh raised you to a station that is beyond our universe but it was to heavy for you to see it unveiled and thereafter carry it. That’s why the only way you could explained it was through hand signs. Think of Prophet Zakariyah (as) when he was ordered not to speak, but only give gestures.

And Allah knows best
Sallu `Alaihi

Pre Nuptial Agreements

Question:

Assalamu 3laikum. Shukran Syedi/Syedia for answering our question.

I would like to know Mawlana’s(QS) advice regarding pre nuptial agreements. Since Muslims today get married under two laws, in some countries their total assets will get split 50/50 in case of divorce. If one wants to avoid this happening to his/her inheritance from his/her parents, are we permitted to have a pre nuptial agreement. More over what is the advice for two married Haqqanis to follow when it comes to such matters? Please advice and forgive our ignorance. Bismillah. Allah bless you and forgive me.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

In Islam there is a dowry you are responsible to pay when you marry or when you divorce or when the husband dies. And this dowry (mahr) can as much high as you both agree at beginning of the marriage. ie. the mahr is a form of contract which must be fulfilled either if the marriage continues or it breaks. Therefore a pre-nuptial agreement can be done.

Dream: Sultan ul Awliya (q) in my dream

Dream:

Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu.

May Allah bless Sultan ul Awliya (q) and Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani(q). I am very very happy to see sultan-ul-awliya(q) in my dream.

I had a dream in which I saw that I was sitting at the feet of Sultan-ul-Awliya (q) and I was crying a lot and I was requesting Sultan-ul-Awliya (q) to please take all my burdens from me and I was crying. Then I saw that I was sleeping just as I was sleeping in reality and Sultan-ul-Awliya (q) blew in my mouth or i think he sucked out air from my mouth and believe me I had a very great feeling at that moment of time..I felt very light suddenly and it was a feeling of ecstasy which cannot be described in words.
May Allah forgive us and grant Sultan-ul-Awliya (q) and Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani (q) long life. Aameen.

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam,

Alhamdulillah, that is a true dream, crying means happiness, and as you requested, Mawlana Shaykh fulfilled by blowing his holy breath into you and clearing all your burdens and that is why you felt so light. Now you need only keep what he requests, the faraid of Islam (obligations) and the wird (daily devotions) you have been assigned and keep from every haram (forbidden), insha-Allah, you will come on Judgment Day as a pure person.

Dream: Roses

Dream:

Assalaamualaikum wrb, I hope n pray u r all in the best of health InshAllah. I will keep it short. I recently had a dream where I am standing on some grass. Its a beautiful day. A voice seems to come from above me almost as if from the sky and tells me to plant roses and that a man of 40 yrs of age will come to me. Any clarity as well as ur time and efforts is much appreciated and May Allah swt bless u all.
Jazakallah

Interpretation:

Both roses and “a man of 40” represent the Prophet Sayyidina Muhammad (s). That he is coming to you means you are progressing in spirituality by implementing his Sunnas in your life, for if you move one span towards Allah, Allah comes to you one foot.

Different dreams

Question:

As-salaamu’ alaykem Sayyidi

I have been having very strange dreams for a week. I dream about attending weddings and about children and these children look at me, we have eye contact, I feel as if we are connected to each other and yet I do not ask them anything. The child either comes as boy or a girl, the child just stands and smiles at me. Then I had a dream I was looking for a small child, it was a girl, I felt that my eyes were just looking for her. I then keep dreaming I am at someone’s wedding and was very happy for them. I had another dream that I was engaged to someone and my soul felt very happy.

Sayyidi, what do these different dreams mean for me?
nsha’Allah I hope to see you soon in the UK and give Bayah, pray for me Sayyidi

Answer:

wa ‘alaykum salam,

Weddings represent taking initiation, baya`, and seeing many children represent the innocence which will be granted to you on doing so, even if it is your 100th baya`.
